If I could do an-100 I would. They ruined our old hard wood floors under the install when they…read moreremoved the staples holding the previous padding down. We can't SEE it but it squeaks horribly and is spongy now in places, indicative of the old oak tongue in groove flooring having separated. We ordered a not cheap Berber for 4 rooms and a connecting hallway. You can see every single seam. I googled and it said these seam relax after a few weeks and are Supposed to become less noticeable. It's been over 8 weeks and they have only worsened. AND the 12 foot hallway has a seam at the dining room and a seam at the bedroom entrance. Both look awful. And the carpet in the bedroom wasn't laid properly so while it's the same as the rest of the install, it looks different because the pattern doesn't quite match up.
The seam into the bedroom ended up pulling up, possibly when our 10, 12, and 15 lb dogs were chasing each other. Over a 6 ft long strand that left a very noticeable gap. If it would have been seamed and glued together properly this would not ever have happened. (We have had Berber before in this same area, and could never see the seams, ever, and had dogs that time too, running through the house and never caused an issue. We also have 30 year old Berber in our finished basement, that has held up so very well, except for one seam down there that after about 20 years and 2 leaky water heater floods, finally started showing ) .
Contacted the CC sales person regarding the seam that let loose, had already texted him photos previously of the crappy install which Damaged horrifically, our 1920 woodwork which I spent 100s of hours refinishing myself and will now have to not only strip and refinish, but sand to remove the deep scratches and provided him the pictures I took of the seams and damage To our beautiful old woodwork.
The sales person offered to send the same crew who didn't know what they were doing to begin with, back to try and stretch the hall carpet and reseam it. And he said if that didn't work, then we could have them use a portion of the 8ft sq extra piece we kept and have 3 (bad) seams instead of 2, or if those failed, we'd have pay for a new 13 ft x 20ft piece of this carpet for them to cover a 12x3 ft wide hallway, using that same install crew.
Update- the bill! When we
Got the bill it was $600 higher than quoted because supposedly then footage estimate didn't include one of the rooms. Except the description of how it was calculated did. They did deduct the extra charge and we paid the price we were quoted originally. I have since realized that this quote include the most expensive carpet pad they sell, which turned out was not usable with the Berber we bought (supposedly) so we agreed to downgrade to the medium price pad, only the price difference was not deducted from the final bill.
I will say the crew was polite and hard working. They did a good job in the 2 small rooms that we
Had luxury vinyl planking installed in. We could not discuss our concerns about the scratching and seams with them because of a language barrier though. Our stairs were done on a separate day by the same crew, and I had contacted CC and sent these images and said they needed to not wreck my stairway because there was zero damage to it now(and I sent him photos to prove that) they did not scratch the stairway woodwork, made out of that same wood that They wrecked with the rest of the install. They did do a better job on the stairway.
They also wrecked the hardwood Johnson flooring that our carpet butts up against in the dining room. That is irreplaceable as it is no longer made
In that color.
I am 67 now, we've had several carpet installs over the years. THIS one is totally unacceptable, crappiest job I've ever seen anywhere. Seriously.
