We just moved in about a week ago. We were not allowed to do a walk through prior to moving in, although the unit was available for at least three days prior to our move in date. Our unit was not properly cleaned as is expected upon move in, but that was the least of our problems. Even the numerous light bulbs and the LIST of other issues weren't the main concern.
The floor was discolored in numerous places, and the planks were peeling up in the living room. There was quite literally packing tape holding some of it down. They sent maintenance to come look at it, who admitted it looked terrible and was surprised no one caught it prior to our move in. After a bit of back and forth, we got them to agree to giving us a credit of $500 and their maintenance team would move our furniture into a vacant apartment and they would have the floors fixed (not redone - they told us initially that the company wouldn't replace floor while tenants lived there, and then later used the excuse that they didn't have the planks to replace the entire floor). They said they would replace the planks that were badly damaged, and reglue the peeling planks. Other than that, they would just rewax the rest of the floor to get rid of any discoloration. Upon asking how long everything wii's take, the maintenance team member Logan suggested not fully finishing the job to get us back in sooner.
The darker planks are the "new" replaced planks (pictures attached). The gaps in the flooring are the handiwork of their maintenance team. The floor is considerably more scratched up, and altogether looks arguably much worse than it did initially.
After communicating our frustration to Kathleen (one of the leasing agents), she asked that we give maintenance a chance because they would be handling our future issues and whatnot. She also got frustrated with us, cutting me off numerous times being rude and ultimately said "it sounds like I've made my mind up about the situation." The next morning we spoke with Lynette, one of the managers, who told me she would be by shortly to look at the problem with Tiffani, another manager. An hour later, after hearing nothing, I called to check in. Lynette then told me they would not be coming by due to Tiffani already offering us $500. She also cut me off & raised her voice to tell me she was "doing me a favor" by answering my call in the first place because they were supposed to be on break.
Their new solution was to offer us $1000, or to move out with no early termination fee, paying rent through when we vacate.
I am extremely disheartened and frustrated at how my roommates and I have been treated by the staff here at Spyglass. I can't help but feel that we would've been met with more respect had we been slightly older in age, but whatever the case may be this is the situation we're in. Staff is rude and unprofessional. Renters beware. read more
