Dr. Kam did surgery on my left shoulder around 2017 and for some odd reason cut my bicep and…read morerepositioned it. I was told in recovery about it and thought, okay, let's see how we heal up before being concerned. Well he sent me home in a sling only. My arm and shoulder were not immobilized so after a few days my bicep tore and was down by the inside of my elbow. I showed it to him and he played it off like it was my fault and informed me that he wouldn't be repairing it. I asked him a couple of times but was told no because I would only lose 15% of my strength so it wouldn't be worth it and it wouldn't be that noticeable anyways. So I didn't pursue it beyond that. I regret that now. On surgery day he sent me home with a script for 5 mg oxycodone 1 every 4-6 hours and it just wasn't enough. When I requested him to up my dosage of Oxycodone he accused me of being a drug seeker. He was convinced in his mind that I was an addict. He was so condescending towards me from then on and I couldn't wait to get out from under his care so I walked away before being released by him. I will never have any contact care or consult with him and I'm willing to go out of network and pay the 20% because I'll have a more peaceful life without him in it.

When other doctors recommended drastic steps to help stop pain, Dr. Shank used his expertise to properly treat it, leaving me with a working ankle & still able to walk normally, something other doctors didn't think they could do. Let me just say this doctors only concern is MONEY! He genuinely doesn't care about his patients…read moreand certainly doesn't check up on them after surgeries to see how their doing. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICEp overall. My boyfriend received ankle surgery from him in June 2015. Once he was out of surgery the doctor said it went well and left, I had to PRY answers out of him like how long does he need crutches? Doses on medicine? Pain tolerance and how long it would last? You name it I asked it because the doctor just wanted to leave and gave no advice. The doctor was irritated I had so many questions and rushed us out of the building and to make it worse the doctor forgot to take my boyfriends stitches OUT! My boyfriend had to call WEEKS later asking if it was normal to have them still in. The nurse freaked out and said to come in immediately and that the doctor should have scheduled a follow up after surgery to get them out. The doctor told me 2 weeks after his ankle surgery he should be able to RUN on his ankle, of course I knew that wasn't true but for him to sound confident in telling me that made me sick. It has now been 5 months since surgery and my boyfriend can barely walk on his ankle. We just saw shank again due to that reason and once again he didn't want to answer questions and tried to shoo us out of his office. I would NEVER recommend anyone to him. He'll take your money and screw you up somehow. I've never been so disgusted in someone who's supposed to be a "physician." Even after months of intensive physical therapy were having serious problems with his ankle.
