Our room was nice and the air conditioning worked a little too good Pool was nice and they do have an accessible ADA lift. Plenty of parking and yes they have ADA parking. Breakfast was just like any other hotel; just middle of the road. Staff was very nice and they handled our group and two other sports groups great. Highly recommend for groups.

The ripped and worn out screen on the window.

To quote Bette Davis: What a dump! I have never been at any branded hotel that was in this bad of a state of repair and as poorly ran or as filthy. The first step into the room and it absolutely reeked of smoke and knocked me back from the stench. I went and reported the smoke stench and was told these rooms were non smoking. Well, I then ask about all the cigarette burns in the carpet. (See photos). That smoke stink was horrid but the stale mildew smell soon came through as well. The filter was blackened with it. It just smelled so horribly we thought we'd open the window. Well, (see photo) the screen was more like a poorly woven spider web with huge gaping holes than any sort of screen which of course allowed the bugs in. Great. The decor can only be described as early funeral home. In fact I have seen funeral homes that were less dark and dank and gloomy and sepulchral. Dark is the operative word. Maybe it is so dark to cover up just how filthy the carpet, walls (see photo) and sofa truly are. The walls were so extremely filthy, dirty and stained. (See photo). The only chair in the room was a very broken and unusable desk type chair and was doubtless used during the inquisition, for what other purpose could it serve? The refrigerator was replete with bars broken off the doors so they could not be used and yes, you guessed, it too was filthy. Another Smithsonian relic was the 21 year old microwave followed closely by the 12 year old TV the remote seemed to telegraph the signal to the set and then it would respond in due time and it was incapable of showing the promised HBO movies. It would just freeze, stop and quit - the end. The bathtub was grimy and if you like ankle deep water while taking a shower, this one's for you! It was completely clogged with hair and glop deposited and never cleaned (see photo). And when we pulled the shower curtain the bar nearly fell down as it was so loose that we very carefully used it from then on as it held on with "a wing and a prayer." Clearly no one here has heard of routine or preventive maintenance. To add to the dankness, a couple of the light bulbs were out. Another guest had requested lightbulbs and never received any, so she climbed up and moved one to a lamp so she would have light. Our spare was also out. (See photo). Other items that were out were: toilet paper and Kleenex, again another extremely simple and routine item to replace. And they offered ZERO housekeeping while we were there. We had to reuse the same towels four times. Something we would not do at our home, why be forced to do so when paying such inflated rates for such overall substandard lodgings. The lack of even basic housekeeping such as trash removal, you get zip, bupkis! And then there was the door that we had to have the desk clerk come to see if she could get the dead bolt to go in so we could close the door. She worked with it several minutes before she was able to and said they were all worn out and would do this and to be careful that the door actually locked when leaving. (See photo) as the door was quite literally falling apart and the lock shows it had been worked on previously without much success. I will not comment on the "free" breakfast as we know they build that price into the room so it is not truly free. It got a hard pass from us. There was no butter or real oleomargarine, only some dairy free "spread" for the dried out muffins. Even the faux apple and orange juice was out the one morning we did check it out. The only reason we can see that this place continues to be in business is it's commanding location on the main street of this tourist town. This can and should not in any way excuse the immeasurably substandard level of housekeeping, routine maintenance and overall decrepitude and filth throughout. We spent three long and insufferable days at this stinky, grimy place and at least there was a Book of Mormon but even Heavenly Father wouldn't want to visit this dump. This place is a litany of missed routine cleaning and maintenance and huge misses on customer service. I have dozens of more photos to document the multitude of failures of this location and could write much more but you should have the gist by now and the pictures say a thousands words don't they? There can be no apologies for this level of incompetence. As a Bonvoy member I can truly say this is the absolute worst Marriott I've ever experienced and it is a mistake I will not ever make again and I encourage you to pass on this place as well.

No Internet and slow Internet at best
    A W.

This is a pretty ordinary hotel. It's not quite up to Marriott standards. The hot breakfast was mostly vending machine packages that required you to place the breakfast item into the microwave. They advertise a hot breakfast. The two hot items were scrambled eggs and link sausage. The sausage was very tasty with a maple flavor. The rooms were clean. The bed was excellent. The staff were friendly. The yard maintenance needed a lot of work. The housekeeping staff tried to get into the room while I was showering even though I had a do not disturb sign on the door. If you are a sober member they will allow you to stay until noon. The Internet was horrible. It was constantly dropping. I assumed there were 1 million children hogging the Internet and playing games however I was wrong. There were no children at the breakfast. There were only older people and they were not using the Internet or their cell phones, so that means the Internet was bad. There was at least 60 second response time each time I clicked on a button for the Internet which is far too slow

Stains on mattress and litter under couch.

I am the most understanding person ever but the front desk clerk (Tracie) lacks people skills. We stayed there with our grandson and had to use a trundle bed. There was not any bed linens in the room for trundle bed. I called front desk and she said they would be at front desk and for me to pick them up. She questioned me twice about linens in the room as though I was being untruthful. Ok no problem. When I went down to pick up linen there was only a thin duvet coverlet. She said all blankets were in laundry and it would be 2 hours before they would be finished. This was suppose to be a studio room but was a standard room. My husband and grandson stopped by desk 2 hours later and she said laundry was not finished. She questioned them as well about the validity of no linens in the room. She stated she had already given me a coverlet. Coverlets are thin waffle Fabric and does not provide enough coverage. She reluctantly gave them another coverlet. She was just simply rude. Breakfast was less than desirable. Obvious that Marriott was being skimpy on variety of packaged pastries. Great location however.

There are multiple pools, including an adults-only pool for those looking to relax, a fun indoor waterpark, an arcade packed with games, a sweets shop, several restaurants, and even a ferry ride nearby. There's so much to do that it's easy to spend an entire weekend without running out of activities. Whether you're looking for a family getaway or just a relaxing weekend, the Bavarian Inn Lodge offers something for everyone. We had a great time. They also have an area that you can walk to and watch the Peacocks. As far as the rooms, they are okay. The restroom is tight, with the toilets sitting inches from the shower. Rooms are spacious but smelled a little musky. Luckily, we were able to open up the window. Once we did that it smelled a little better. I think it may be from folks walking around wet and dripping on the carpet.

The second time I called, I ASKED to speak to a manager and was switched over, so of course she didn't hear the laughter or giggling I heard. The trip started off fairly well, until around dinner time! We waited over an hour and 15 minutes for dinner after the automated system said 20-40 minutes. When I did call, I was met with laughter on the other line and was told, "we're understaffed - but are you the room that ordered all the beer?" "Nope. Definitely not. We have kids in tow and we do not drink. Me and my family are STILL waiting for food..." To which she laughed again, said they were understaffed and claimed the young lady hauling food was on the floor and would be "right there". 15 minutes later, I called again and they removed the food from our bill - which I appreciated, but also hated having to ask for - AGAIN. Also, asking me about an 'order' because the staff was already taking too long seemed borderline inappropriate. That being said, my kiddos are both 7, one chose this waterpark as her birthday venue, and everyone had a fun time. (It's a tad frustrating that check-in is so late and in order to get INTO the water park, with the most slides that is, you had to pay extra. So, anyone who pays for just the park gets in earlier technically. Which again, is a tad annoying. You pay more to stay and then pay even more to play. The lazy river, the family raft ride and the outside hot tub were their favorites to play around in a there are a few inside we didn't even check out. The breakfast/dinner/game time coupons and cards were all pretty nifty and we used every single one of them. It is a bit misleading that the place to enjoy dinner is the 'Bavarian Inn Restaurant' and is not attached to the hotel in any way and says it closes at 8:00. We booked it there to arrive in time for a dinner only to see them seating people at 8:55. All of our issues revolved around meals/food, and younger staff members just joking around when you try to ask questions, but overall - my kiddos had a great time and that was the goal.

Very easy to book online and be sure to get a rewards sign up. We did a package that included pizza and pop, a chicken dinner at Zehnders, and a breakfast buffet for both mornings. The hotel is easy to spot next to Bronner's. The theme of gnomes and fairies is so adorable. Staff are awesome! They were so sweet to my daughter and us. Whether it was our waitress, lifeguards at the waterpark, or the front desk. We were able to check in early, so be sure to ask! Our room was one of the older rooms and was one of the ADA compliant rooms, which has larger doorways, no bathtub, a queen bed, and a seating area with a fireplace. The room decorations and everything in it are original. It's very desperately needs to get a facelift. The room was right off of the front desk in waterpark, so walking to the action only took a few steps. I noticed there is no recycling bin. There was a mini refrigerator, but the temperature control wasn't the greatest. Carpet was buckling. The seating area did have a pullout couch, but the couch itself was slippery with the fabric and pretty uncomfortable. Not sure how well house keeping was. There was a Nerf gun instructions paperwork behind one of our bedside nightstands. The water pressure was awesome. The bedding felt clean and the bed overall was comfortable. Housekeeping was able to give us a few more towels off their cleaning cart, which was nice. There is an arcade, but it's definitely not as big as the other hotel down the street. It's very crammed into one room. The pizza and cheese bread was absolutely delicious. Was not expecting that for a kid themed hotel. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, but the buffet items don't change. So the second day we were already kind of sick of the options. They do a nightly movie night in the lobby at 8 PM. If our daughter was older, we definitely would've snuggled up in the lobby to watch the movie. The waterpark was our favorite. Our daughter is just over two, and I was so surprised at how many things she was able to do. She even got to go on a waterslide with us, holding her to go down. Also, she was able to go down a waterslide all by herself, so she thought she was super cool! At the hotel down the street, there's barely anything for a two-year-old to do at their waterpark. She absolutely loved being able to wade in the water with the toddler pool going up to 2 feet. She also was brave enough to go under the big bucket that splashes. We stayed two nights and I think we went to the waterpark at least four or five times and she never got sick of it. There is a security checkpoint for the waterpark. Security will put UV light on your wristband to make sure it's not a fake also go through any bags that you're bringing into the waterpark. Do not bring towel towels, the waterpark provides towels for you. Additionally, they provide lifejackets. There are plenty of tables and chairs all along both water parks, the old side and the new side. The new side wasn't as toddler friendly. There was a small slide she could go down, otherwise there really wasn't much else for her to do. We had a great stay and I think with them updating all of the hotel rooms, I think Zehnder's is the place to be!

(Last year not so much) The Marv Herzog Hotel sits along the Cass River we chose the River side view, our room had a jacuzzi & small balcony. Our room was very clean with no visible signs of any issues. Bathroom had body wash, shampoo & conditioner all full. Daily room checks with fresh towels & bed makeover. We didn't feel comfortable on the balcony but the large patio was very nice with plenty of room and seating. Included with your stay is breakfast, typical of most hotels. What surprised us was you receive a drink ticket for 2 drinks German beer , wine or soda & hors d'oeuvres for a happy hour. All staff were very friendly & accommodating. Our refrigerator was not cooling the best & they allowed us to store our freezer packs & food in their refrigerator. Greatly appreciated this. Parking garage is tight, we have a truck and it was snug. No pool as this seems to be more of place for couples not necessarily families with small children. Although there were families there. The town offers a free shuttle which we used but most things are within walking distance. I am giving 4 stars because of the refrigerator & I wish we could have set the air conditioner for the fan to run continuously it didn't seem to have that function. & the tv didn't have a sleep mode. Overall I think we will stay here again in the future it has been kept up very well.
