I have now been involuntarily awake since 5:23am because someone had the great idea to put commercial vinyl flooring in a hotel that was not constructed with appropriate sound deadening. so this morning when the gorilla upstairs decided to get up and put on his high heels and run a relay race from the window, to the door, to the bed, to the bathroom.. for an hour and a half before leaving, I got to share their enthusiasm for the day. This sound was so loud that it woke me despite having a white noise machine on in my room and after putting a pillow over my head, the sound still kept me awake. So I've cancelled my reservation to return to this location next weekend and I hope the review saves someone from this same fate.

The hotel room had a number of significant issues…read more Specifically: 1. There was an infestation of flying black flies/gnats in the room. They were everywhere, getting into our food and beverage. One was discovered in the refrigerator. They were all over the bathroom: on the mirror, walls, shower, and toilet. I voiced my complaints. A different room was offered. The desk clerk informed me that these pests are "all over," including at the check-in counter. I have multiple red, itchy marks on my extremities. I believe the bugs bit me. Eating in the room and taking part in the continental breakfast made me nervous. A couple traveling from out-of-state said they noticed flying bugs in the breakfast area. I placed several cola, sweetened coffee, and sugar water covered containers and cups in the bed and bathroom. The cups had many, many drowned pests. The evidence was shown to the desk clerk. I spoke with another hotel guest who said the flying bugs were also in his room. Several guests who attended the church service also said they noticed numerous bugs flying around in the event room and landing on their food: "Yes, they're all over the room." 2. The event room was next to our room. There was a very large gathering of folks hosting a church service for 6 hours. The music was very loud with bongos and other instruments. We were assigned the room right adjacent to this event. With bongos and other instruments, the music was really loud. I voiced my displeasure with the loud noise. Every Sunday, the church has a service there, according to the desk clerk. I then questioned why I wasn't given the option to decide if I wanted to remain close to an event with so much noise. I didn't get a satisfactory response. 3. There was a problem with the microwave. It was replaced by the housekeeping staff. The replacement microwave did not work either. It would not open. We gave up. 4. The shower and sink had stains, and the bathroom was dirty. The walls were filthy. I discussed this with the housekeeper. To which she said, "Yes, we know." 5. There is mold and leakage on the ceiling just outside our room. 6. The lampshade has a big tear hole and is dusty and unclean. 7. The charging power port at the bed's left side was inoperable. What a terrible experience. We need a remedy.

The receptionist acted like she didn't want to be bothered and was laying down on check in desk. We told her we had reservations, she moved slow put on her coat and proceeded to check us in with attitude like she don't want to be bothered. She gave us the bare minimum of the layout and amenities of hotel. Just wasn't a pleasant experience. The hotel and the room had an odor. The rooms were clean. I wouldn't recommend because of the smell, everything else is fixable.

That's said, the entire hotel was clean and the beds were very comfortable. 2 STARS for the musty smell in the room. While you could see room was clean, the smell made you feel like it was not. They definitely need to do regular maintenance or cleaning of the HVAC units in each room. If the smell were was not present, I'd give them 4 stars.

My son was hit by a car the day before my trip and ended up in the hospital. The day of my trip, before 10 am. attempted to cancel through Expedia. Baymont refused to allow cancellation and keep my $250. So instead of allowing cancellation out of good graces, this large hotel chain decided it was better to keep my money and get a one star rating and assure I will never stay there while in town. Big corporations have no soul or the people who work for them.
