The trails and stream are on flat terrain easy to navigate with littles, strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, etc. we searched for the playground but couldn't find it. Doh! If you are looking for the same, park at the rear of the library lot or in the OR Rec Center lot, as the playground is right behind. The Friendship Bell commemorates the workers of the Manhattan Project and it's a good thing to check off your list once. I don't know that we need to go back until/unless our kids learn about it in school. The park has a great amphitheater which frequently hosts live music, concerts, and festivals. The playground next to it is great for kids 2-5. Low to the ground, slides aren't as steep, and some developmental equipment for those of the younger age. Baby swings available and a nearby pavilion. Tons of shaded benches to keep an eye on your kiddos. The playground is a stone's throw from the library and the pretty courtyard with a fountain.

I would hope they plant even more to give better coverage to the trail that goes around the park. I walked here every morning on my recent visit. Most mornings there were a few joggers and people walking their dogs. The trail is gravel for the most part. A few short sections are sidewalk. It would be nice to have some trail markers that show distance on the trail. There is some signage about the park near the bell. Farther down the trail behind the senior center is a large playground and a place that appears to host live music. Overall this park is pretty amazing. I plan on coming back on my next visit

I mention this because my original review had been removed and I was accused of writing a review for Deep Well Farm, without ever having been. I have taken my daughter, twice with her school, and I am the guy who paid for 2 wristbands, in the parking lot, with apple pay. Deep Well Farm advertises that, with admission, kids can choose their own pumpkin from a field. In practice, that has equated to "kids can pick out a pumpkin from massive cardboard bins of pumpkins, on skids", just like Walmart. After paying $10 for a very humble pumpkin, I was really surprised they hadn't even gone to the effort to lay the pumpkins in the dirt field, where they drop you off. My kid was unimpressed with the experience of going to an actual farm and picking a pumpkin out of a bin, just like Walmart.

When we arrived we were told due to drought and spraying of grass the corn died, but there is a small maze for the little ones. Let's just say it's the size of a baseball diamond and lame. We like to ride in, maybe snack at Calhoun's, then stop to play at the splash pad on our way back. This paved and cemented path ties into the Knoxville greenway system. The splash pad has upward jets of varying height, a waterfall feature kids can run under, and two waterfalls into shallow pools. The waterfalls into pools are supposed to be decorative only. At the very least they are filled with small to large dangling feet, and at the most, it is filled with little kids, regardless of signage. There is a grassy area and a pet waste station with bags. Some benches and porch like swings are dispersed on the area. I wish there was a shade structure over the benches by the splash pad. One of my favorite features are the stone monuments referencing Knoxville's wild and bohemian past. See photos attached to this review for details. This is a great destination for anyone with kids, or a love of being in the outdoors.

It's always nice when you have a mountain to yourself but an entire mountain range to yourself is incredible - ok I must be honest I did see a few other vehicles as I made my way through the switchbacks and steep climbs and descents but they were far and few between. Most were motorcycles doing that bionic lean as they navigated the many curves on this beautiful day. I was very fortunate to discover this place while out exploring in my Jeep which is probably the second best mode of transportation to experience this drive, the wind in my hair and sucking in the good ole mountain air was nothing less than therapeutic. There are many amenities along the way including spacious pullouts, over-looks and an endless number of hiking trails. Hopefully if your planning to take the ride across this parkway you come prepared to fully experience it - hiking shoes, water and a few snacks will enhance your visit. As I researched this area prior to arriving I read several notes claiming this was "The Top of Tennessee" I can't say I know the exact topographic significance of this particular drive but I can tell the beauty crosses the horizon and there were many breathtaking moments. I certainly recommend bookmarking this location while liking my review and photos lol - seriously it's worth your time...
