This was a decently nice place to live with some pluses and some minuses. Pluses: GREAT area…read more You are literally about 2 miles from downtown. It's what I miss the most. Very clean area, not noisy at all. Very safe, and well lit parking lot as well. I felt totally fine going for a jog at dusk in the neighboring housing area. They also allow pets, which is pretty cool. They have an outdoor pool and lounge area as well. Really nice once the sun went down. Why not during mid-day, you ask? See next paragraph. Minuses: The pool area. PACKED with kids, all through the summer. Hardly ever enough lounge chairs. Many times you had to take two table chairs and prop your feet up until you could swipe the one or two loungers when someone left the area. But, back to the kids. I don't mind well-behaved kids, but I do mind noisy kids splashing me while I suntan and yelling 'DAD, WATCH! WATCH! WATCH!' about three thousand times a minute while I frustratingly try to read a new book I had just picked up. I guess it just comes down to the fact that the place has alot of young families living there. Oh well. You do have a balcony back at your apartment, so maybe you can catch a few rays there instead. The only other minus is the landlord/management. Seems like they're not on their game. They changed landlords 3 times in the 3 years we lived there, and it seemed that there was confusion over many issues. Once when we moved away for a summer, we were told our apartment looked great and we would be receiving our complete security deposit back. Apparently they changed their minds, because we received about 1/4 back instead, with a bunch of cleaning costs written in. It's not a bad place to live, but I would definitely suggest shopping around to check out the other complexes in the area to compare and contrast before deciding.

One month after or planned moving date and we still hadn't received a lease agreement from management. We were wry disappointed that management was so scatterbrained and inconsiderate. I could have done a much better job than they did.

They went above snd beyond to make sure all of our questions were answered, were quick to respond to any texts, and they made my partner and I feel so incredibly welcome! We stayed in The Den which was such a cozy little place. The whole space was very well thought out, bed was quite comfortable and there were even some fresh eggs waiting in the fridge for us! The cedar soaking tub they had was such a lovely addition and it was so great to use after a long full day. They also had an entire welcome binder outlining local restaurant, attractions, and other places of interest. The on-site yoga classes and farm store (with fresh muffins, baked bread and local crafts) were just the cherry on top!!! All of this doesn't even mention how incredibly convenient the location was, when we stepped out of our door, you wouldn't know that you were only a 15 or so minute drive from Portsmouth because it really was such a peaceful, calming place. All around if we have ANY reason to be staying in or around Portsmouth again, you can bet I won't be looking any further than Shilo Farm!!!

When we arrived and we were driving down Shiloh Farms driveway, Amylyn was waving us in and it was just a wonderful welcome to a fun farm experience! Jonas came out to welcome us and they both asked if we wanted to meet their dog Shasta...they explained she's big but friendly. She was; and so happy and silly, we even got her to roll over. This farm feels well protected with this beautiful girl manning the farm. In any event they showed us around and everything is so well designed and everywhere you walk there is art. I love farm swings as I remember them at my grandparents farm and one of their swings fit both of us and we had a blast swinging amongst the friendly chickens, singing and laughing. I just felt healthier amongst all the nature and beauty and had no idea how much the sounds of a farm would delight us. This was exactly the unique farm experience I was seeking for my kiddo. She chose a farm experience over amusement park experience or more beach time and here we couldn't get away from the animals, in a great way. Goats, chickens (so happy and fun), cats, and of course Shasta and friendly proprietors that went out of their way for my kiddo. We fully intended to use the fire pit but the first day we had been at the beach all day and conked out early. And the second night was rainy and we were tired from a lot of travel but we did have an excellent night sleep, listening to the rain. And with the yoga, I never inquired as we do some at home on YouTube and I'm awkward doing it and really we're here for the animals. We just got done running with the goats and collecting eggs from the chicken coop, all the while being educated in a kid friendly way about the animals, their food, the different species, and all about the different colored eggs. Fascinating. And BONUS, they shared/gave my daughter a little book about one of their goats, named Olaf that is about bullying and conquering it and a coloring book she spent a-lot of time on yesterday . I can't thank Amylyn and Jonas enough for providing such an interactive, relaxing, and fun time at a beautifully designed property that delights the eye with all the art (much created from trees and other resources on the property. Their love of animals, their farm, each other and what they do makes for a warm and loving experience. Their stories about the animals are so cool- their chickens don't get eaten, they live their full lives, and what happy and healthy chickens they are. Luna, the goat had a stroke a while back and they lovingly got her back in action after quite the recovery. Happy people doing what they love on this farm. We are lucky they love it so much they want to share it The location is AMAZING.. a couple miles from gorgeous beaches (that's definitely my thing so we got the best of both worlds here) Pics are on the way

I saw online that The Verdian had some available apartments and the photos looked beautiful. As soon as I viewed it, I excitedly scheduled a tour of the building. I thought that the lobby was nice and clean, however, the employee showing us the building seemed disinterested in our visit. When asked about the safety of the building, her response was, "We cannot guarantee anybody's safety." As a young female who will be living alone, safety is a high priority for me. Based on the employee's responses it gave off the impression that our visit was not important to her. Other questions we asked she responded annoyingly and were all very basic answers. I am not sure if she felt like I was not the type of client they were looking for or what but she gave off the impression that I was not good enough to live there. As a young professional, I may have given off that impression, however, since the saleswomen did not take my interest in The Verdian seriously and I can confidently say that I will not be pursuing them any further. I think that the one-bedroom was a good size but the micro-studio was so small that it would be difficult for anyone to live there. You are going to pay $2000 for your basic one bedroom and one bath. I thought that $1695 a month was reasonable, especially for Portsmouth for the "micro" studio, however, once I saw the actual size I think that you should look elsewhere if you are considering relocating to Portsmouth. Moral of the story, I was considering renting from the Veridian but ended up purchasing a Condo that was much larger and in a better area in regards to downtown. If you are considering renting at such a high price I would recommend checking out some of the real estate for sale!

I have reached out to Balfour Beatty Communities via their "BBCares" email and they have yet to respond to our serious concerns. First, our family let the housing office know as soon as possible that my husband was receiving unexpected orders from his command and needed to be released from housing. There was initially discrepancy within the housing office staff, mainly coming from the new community manager, a gentleman whose name he did not share with us. It took days to get a solid answer whether or not this letter from the command would be acceptable. Second, this gentleman was disrespectful to my myself and my husband in particular. When explaining the "self clean" option, he told my husband that he "would be coming in with a white glove like your chief"--not bothering to ask what my husband's rank is! His tone was unfriendly and threatening and caused a great deal of stress for us during this move, which I was primarily doing without my husband. The third and most concerning issue was the lack of communication about the scheduling of this move out. We had initially scheduled this move for a Saturday with Allison. As per your protocol, my husband signed paperwork stating this would be the day of our move and inspection. When we went into the office to bring in our paperwork, Allison was not there and this gentleman said, "Oh well I don't know how you plan on moving out that day, we're not open on Saturdays." When we asked why, then, we were asked to sign what we assumed was a legal document stating our move out date, this employee evaded the question and continued to bring up other issues, such as power of attorney forms and his own pervious military experience in the Navy. When we went back in to speak to a female employee about this matter (as she seemed to be the only staff member who was polite and pleasant, as well as professional) she explained that she would be in on Saturday to do the inspection and not to worry. As she was explaining this, the same male employee walked in and said to her casually, "Oh hey, you gonna be here on Saturday for a move out?" Days later, he was just now addressing the issue--in front of us! It was shockingly disrespectful and beyond unprofessional. My family spent our last days together before a VERY long deployment panicking because of this male staff member's responses to our fair questions. Throughout the entire process, we were only trying to do what was right and be respectful towards your business's policies and procedures. Instead of spending time with his 9 month old son, my husband, who serves our country, had to scramble and arrange alternate plans--"just in case". I believe it is also relevant that move out cleaning checklist that was given to us was labelled for a different housing community in another state. It stated we were responsible for cleaning oven hoods, cleaning furnace filters, and other tasks which should only be completed by maintenance staff. This was yet another great source of stress in our final weeks together before my husband's deployment. I feel that this staff member's behavior was totally unacceptable and absolutely NOT in alignment with the values your company claims to foster according to your website. Our move out process was far from simple or pleasant, and throughout the entire process we felt deceived, concerned, and above all else, confused as to why were being treated this way.
