At this point, Ephraim McDowell feels less like a healthcare network and more like a place you end…read moreup because you have no other choice. It's the medical equivalent of being shoved into a van, blindfolded, and dropped off at whatever location happens to be open. You don't come here because you trust them--you come here because the alternative is bleeding out in a ditch. Take my experiences. I walked in with a gunshot wound to the hand, and somehow the grand medical conclusion was Flexeril, Tylenol, and a $3,000 bill. Danville's staff has a couple of competent people buried in the chaos, but most of what you deal with feels like confusion wrapped in a scrubs uniform. Then there's Harrodsburg. After getting AC compressor lubricant blasted into my eyes, I got redirected to Lexington like a piece of lost mail. And once I got there? The doctor basically told me I wasted my time, shrugged, and sent me home at 2 a.m. with nothing but more questions and less trust. No explanation. No reasoning. Just a pat on the back and the door. Every visit feels like you've stumbled into their system and can't get out until someone finally decides you're allowed to leave. Communication is scattered, urgency is optional, and half the time you're wondering who--if anyone--is actually steering the ship. But hey, this place is better than dying with no treatment in the middle of a field somewhere. I guess.

I'm sure this is not the popular place to review via yelp. I did not take any pictures during this…read morevisit. My review will explain it all. On an afternoon, I rushed home to take a conference call. Running in the house I through my bags down and raced upstairs to get out of business attire to change into a more Comfortable outfit, shorts and t-shirt. When bending down to grab my shorts...OH NO! A pain like other. My back was thrown out. I dropped to my knees and crawled down my steps. 5 hours later my hubby came home and took me to the ER we were debating whether to go to the urgent care or ER. Since I literally could not sit in car long, we opted to come here. My hubby dropped me at the curbs me my kiddo ran in to get a wheelchair. The registration is as soon as you walk in. The note on counter 30 minute ER pledge. So the goal is to get you back in the room in 30 mins. Check in was super speed, And great for the mean old lady doubled over in extreme pain. Pain that caused sweat and tears. I waited maybe 15 minutes to be called back. They took my vitals, my blood pressure is usually lower or perfect, today it was high due to the pain happening. I was in a room for about an hour and 15 minutes before the doctor came in. Super friendly guy and listened to me and did an exam. Our plan was a morphine shot and then sent home with meds and lots of rest. My nurse Tara was amazing! She was so patient with me when maneuvering me in the bed for shots or taking care of my kiddo while my hubby helped me to the restroom. I was pleased with the cleanliness of the facility and the service from the doctor and especially Tara. I have being a patient especially a needy one like I was tonight. At home, I'm much better, now you can see why no pictures happened. This girl was a 9 out of 10 on the pain scale. I grew up here and this hospital has gotten a bad wrap, not sure why I was pleased. Be sure to bring a charger most phone have limited cell service and it will drain your battery.

While waiting, I noticed several issues with cleanliness--surfaces appeared dirty, and the overall environment felt unsanitary, raising concerns about patient safety. To make matters worse, the staff was not only slow but also quite rude. They seemed indifferent to patients' needs, offering little to no reassurance or support during the lengthy wait. Given these serious issues, I believe this hospital should reconsider its operations. It's concerning to think about the quality of care being provided under these circumstances. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone and feel it should be shut down until major improvements are made.

The Dr we had was Dr. Karen Nakasato and I don't think that we have ever had a more caring professional. She was immediately very concerned about a possible stroke and did everything in her power to prove it. Since there was no MRI tech there, she requested us to go to UL in louisville. Long story short, it was a stroke, but he is doing great now! Thank you Dr. Nakasato and staff, you were great.
