Sweet Azzy, my brother's Great Dane, went in for probably the most common procedures in the animal industry, a SPAY. The spay was "done" by DR. MARSHALL TAYLOR at Rhea County Animal Hospital. My brother's were assured Azzy was in good hands and would be ready to come home the following day. SHE NEVER DID. There are so many things wrong about this entire situation. As someone who has worked in the animal medicine industry and worked alongside and for MULTIPLE Veterinarians, NEVER HAVE I EVER met a Veterinarian as careless, incompetent, unethical, and down right CRUEL. I have physical evidence of "Doctor" Marshall Taylor lying to us. The closing work (incision) done in procedure that the Veterinarians and veterinary technicians I have connections with say is a DISGRACE and DISGUSTING. When picking up Azzy to take her to UTK for necropsy, as we're weeping, his office staff had the AUDACITY to tell me "let me ask what to do about check out and payment" .... PAYMENT!!!???? You think they are paying you for this???? Azzy died alone, in a kennel, in the cold because of what He did and he expected to be paid? With all the being said, if your animals are your babies, PLEASE stay away from Dr. Marshall Taylor and Rhea County Animal Hospital. Warn your friends and families. We have been using the vets at this center for over 15 years. Dr. Susan is our usual vet but over…read morethe years we have seen Dr. Jack and Dr. Bre and they are all outstanding. They are very knowledgeable, professional and compassionate. We have always rescued large breed dogs and have been more than pleased with the way they were treated by the techs and the vets. We've had them treat 10 dogs and 4 cats over the years. Naturally, they have had a myriad of problems and each time we were given the best care for our fur babies. When they did have to cross the Rainbow Bridge the vets and staff could not have been more compassionate. They always go above and beyond to help us take the absolute best care of our pets. We cannot recommend them highly enough. If you have a pet that needs care, go see them!

Extremely heartbroken and disappointed in this facility. This has been our pets Dr for a good while…read morenow and she is very pleasant and knowledgeable, IF you can actually get in to see her. She had been caring for my dog as he was becoming old and senior, then suddenly the appointments were becoming further and further out to the point where we were having to seek out different random facilities... repeatedly. When your pet is sick, you can't wait two months! It's ridiculous. They're now using the excuse that they're going to an electronic system, but the inability to get a timely appointment was happening prior to their system changing over. Ultimately, our dog was diagnosed with cancer and heart disease over a period of time by OTHER vets and our Dr at Highland had no idea because we could never get in to see her. Sadly the time came where we had to euthanize our dog and again, they didn't have time to fit us in, we postponed euthanasia on him TWICE waiting for our Dr at Highland to perform the service. The day came where it became an urgent almost emergency situation and again, they couldn't "fit us in" it was beyond heartbreaking for us and very scary to think about this actually happening when your desperate to get your pet into their vet! We feel terrible that we made our dog suffer unnecessarily, hopeful that we would be able to get in when we needed our vet the most. We had to find another vet in town at the very last minute, someone unfamiliar to us and unfamiliar to our dog to have him euthanized the same day, the added stress to an already terribly stressful and heartbreaking situation was indescribable. He wasn't just a pet, he was an important part of our family. Thankfully, the other vet was a Godsend! We were incredibly pleased with their services, the staff, the Dr and the entire process. They couldn't have been more accommodating. They made a heartbreaking situation very calm and loving. They will become our pets new place of healthcare from now on.

We've been taking our elderly diabetic cat to Upper Cumberland Veterinary Clinic since moving here…read moreto Tennessee. I'm amazed, impressed, and deeply grateful with the care she has received. She recently had a tooth infection and we almost lost her. She was at risk of not making it through the cleaning procedure due to her diabetes, age, and the anesthesia, along with the fact that she wasn't able to eat with her insulin. The doctor gave her some antibiotics and painkillers to help with the infection and make her feel better. This gave her the chance to regain her strength and be able to start eating moist food again. Then I had to make the tough call to proceed with the surgery. She was strong and she was brave. I made the right choice and thanks to the skill of the doctor and his caring staff, my Angel made it through the tooth extraction sugary and cleaning with flying colors. Now she's eating her prescription dry food again and has recovered 100%. Thank you Upper Cumberland Veterinary Clinic. You saved our baby girl.
