It…read moremay be true that the bartender, Ludwig, sometimes seems a bit grumpy, but if you smile and joke with him hat usually dissolves within seconds and he is the most loveable person you can imagine! So is Loni, the owner, who sometimes also comes to take care of the guests. Guests are a wide mixture between those true "Gutleutviertel"-people, lawyers or bankers from the Westhafen or visitors from far far away. They are all welcome and mix well... Food is "honest" German fare. Try what is on the weekly menu, the stuff is homemade, fresh and good. From the standard menu, the Schnitzels or Currywurst are a good choice. If you are lucky enough to be there on Gyros day, try it, it's crisp and tasty ... love it. As for drinks, "The Michael" is a place to drink Apfelwein, for sure, and I am not qualified to comment on the quality of the beer serve since I don't drink it anyway. All drinks are sold at very fair prices. For the soccer lovers: you can watch Sky here, and even though the place is "Eintracht-owned", fans of other teams can expect friendly tolerance if they behave well ;-)

Unfortunately I went there when I was still expecting it to be the…read moreBurren bar, and as a result I was a tad disappointed, the guy on the bar was a tad unfriendly (probably because I asked Is this the Burren bar?) and the menu is much more oriented towards pizza. One thing that is not needed in DA is more pizza, not even Irish pizza! If you want to watch the sport on tv, go upstairs. I'll give it another go in the future after the dust has settled, but in the meantime I can't really recommend it.

A very good restaurant overall, with some exceptionally good selections on the menu. These included…read morea cheese appetizer that was locally made and out of this world, a couple of venison and beer dishes that were superb, and the apple-based desserts. A very rustic design, very good service, and friendly folks with everyone who served us. North of the city and in a suburban area, so also very nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Frankfurt am Main.

Newly designed, but still an alternative charm. The waiters are nice and the food didn't take too…read morelong to arrive. We had schnitzel with fries and salad and it was tasty. Typical german dishes sometimes with a little twist. In general the menu and the choice of meals seem rather simple even if the new interior suggests differently. If you like student hangouts that don't get to busy during the week come here :) Next up I will try their breakfast. No buffet which I appreciate very much but let's see what will happen!
