While passing through Bundaberg with another hour and a half to go before we arrived at our hostel, my husband and I did a search for dinner and came upon Spotted Dog Tavern. It was about 6pm on a Friday night and when we were greeted we were asked if we'd made reservations which we hadn't - I overheard another employee telling some patrons this particular night has been fully booked for two weeks. Luckily they found a table for us and we sat down to browse the menu. There's a pretty huge selection to choose from. I picked an Asian wok noodle dish, and my husband decided on a pulled pork pizza. Both meals were pretty good (I'd give them 3 stars each) and very filling. With drinks our order totaled to about $55 AUD which is considered pretty affordable/average here. The vibe in the restaurant was lively and family-friendly. As we got set to leave, there was even live music starting. Not sure what else is in the area, but as far as food goes, Spotted Dog Tavern is a decent choice for dinner if you're passing through. read more

While visiting Bundaberg for work I decided to go to the Spotted Dog for an easy meal. I was shocked on arrival that most of the tables were full, being a Tuesday night I didn't expect this. I think it was very lucky that a table was found for us. The menu is extensive, there is so much to choose from. I opted for the "James Squire beer battered Australian Red Emperor". This was a huge meal, half the plate was loaded up with chips, plus a little salad and some sauce. Overall the meal very flavoursome and nice, would definitely recommend if you're looking for something not too pricey or formal. Unfortunately, because they were so busy, our table waited nearly an hour for our meals. So I would also recommend reserving a table as well as considering going early. read more

Best chicken snitzels in Bundaberg. The meals are all large sizes, service is quick, beer is icy cold. Great place for a meal & to watch some sport on the numerous TVs. We also had a function in the back room & it was fantastic although a bar out in that room would encourage people to drink more. read more

Best place in Bundaberg for a Lunchtime Burger. Big screens with all the sports channels are awesome if you're a sports nut. Can't go past the slow cooked beef cheeks for dinner! Amazing.
