We also brought a 12- pack of corona that was $16.99. They are the closest liquor store to our cottage any for many, so they can make there prices high. Most people (like us) don't want to drive the extra 15 miles into town. But it is a huge place and I guarantee they will have whet you are looking for. I experienced racial discrimination today at Happy Harry's on 45th in Fargo ND, while trying to buy…read morewine for Thanksgiving Dinner. When asked for ID, I presented my Federal Tribal ID card, which I have always been proud to offer. The clerk said he can only accept it if I produced a birth certificate to go along with it. While explaining that our Tribal Id's come with holographic imprint, our social security number, birth date, full name, address, and tribal affiliation, the clerk raised his voice at me and barked "We are trained not to accept federal tribal id's!" Several nearby cashiers heard the commotion and chimed in agreement, loudly telling me and my girlfriend to leave. The manager, Sam, rushed toward me with unnecessary force and yelled, "You need to leave!" As a fellow local business owner I was surprised at the hostility Happy Harry's employees are allowed to display towards customers. I left humiliated, without the wine, that ironically, was for the holiday that celebrates Native Americans accepting the White Man, by offering dinner...probably with wine.

The food was pretty much potluck, with any adult beverages being up to the individual. So at some point, 3 of us made a beer and wine run to Bernie's. They had an excellent selection of craft beer, and some locally distilled spirits. The wine selection was OK, but the more time I spent here, the more I came to appreciate the offerings, and how lucky local Fargo residents are to have such a place around.
