We were staying at the American Club for the weekend and were a little surprised to learn that they do not have a fitness facility on site. However, access to this sports complex is included as an amenity, and with free, frequent shuttle service from the hotel, it was easy and convenient to give it a try. This is a full-service facility. They have tennis courts (with pickleball courts coming soon), a complete exercise and weight room, a lap pool, multiple hot tubs, and a sauna. They even have a hole cut into Woodlake for cold plunging, which was impressive. All of the exercise equipment was high quality and in good working order. We were familiar with most of it, but it would have been nice to have an attendant present in the workout area for questions or guidance, especially for anyone less experienced with gym equipment. The locker rooms, showers, and bathrooms were all clean, modern, and well maintained. Everything felt spacious and thoughtfully laid out. We were glad we took the time to check it out. While it is not located directly at the American Club, the shuttle service makes it easy to access, and the quality of the facility more than makes up for the short ride. read more

Great spot but light on towels and lockers are small (more so that they're ok top of each other than small). But, otherwise, this is a great facility. Plenty of tennis and pickleball courts and multiple pools - so , if you are a lap swimmer, you don't have to share with the kids. Friendly staff and while the locker room amenities are sparse and the lockers are on top of each other (as previously mentioned), the locker room itself is large and the pool deck and other areas have plenty of room. There is also a sauna and steam area. Family locker rooms exist also outside of the regular ones (but they're one person use and always seem wet...). Water is around if you're thirsty and everything is very clean. Worth a visit if you're local or staying nearby. read more

I have been a member/user of Sports Core and was involved in a slip-and-fall incident on January 16, 2026, on a stairway at the facility. The fall resulted in significant injuries requiring ambulance transport and additional medical treatment. I was disappointed by my experience following the incident. Although I understand accidents can happen, I believe more attention should be given to safety and to investigating incidents involving member injuries. I provided additional evidence, including video and witness information, and remain disappointed with how the matter was ultimately resolved. I encourage Sports Core and Kohler to continue reviewing facility safety, maintenance procedures, and incident investigation practices to help prevent similar injuries in the future. read more

Is there a bad place in this whole town?! Even the gym is incredible! We got a complimentary membership during our stay at the Inn at Woodlake, just a very short drive from the hotel. When I walked in, I was in awe: gorgeous colorful uplighting, amazing amenities: I couldn't believe I got this included in my stay! I got my locker key at check in and a quick tour from one of the team members to get the lay of the land. There are tennis courts and other indoor workout equipment, but since I was here on vacation, I was NOT going to be doing a traditional workout haha. I headed right for the pools - there is an indoor pool that is more kid-focused, and then a lap pool that was completely empty. I spent most of my time outside on their beach with pond access. I enjoyed using the paddleboard for the majority of the afternoon - paddling around the pond and even over to live music on the other side! There are plenty of chairs for laying out at the beach access, a small snack station, and an outdoor hot tub. There was a sauna and steam room also available, and Kohler showers to enjoy after! A complimentary spa-like experience during our Kohler stay - if you get this perk with your hotel stay, use it! read more

I go here weekly to play tennis. Sometimes I go here to go workout, swim, and do other things. The scenery is nice so that when you walk in you can go into the pro shop to buy some clothing, snacks, or drinks. The front desk would be on the right once you walk in. You can get towels and keys for lockers. There are two gyms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Theres a big pool inside and for hot days you can swim in the pond outside. There are hot tubs inside and outside. There is also a sauna. Overall this place is really nice and I would recommend this place to others. read more

I used the facilities while staying at the American Club Resort and took a shuttle over two days that I was staying there. The complex looks fabulous from the outside, with indoor tennis courts, lap pool, sauna, and the little cafe up front. To start with the tennis courts are beautifully lit and temperature controlled. The pool is the ideal place to do laps. Even the locker room's are like a sauna with wood cabinets, TV's, and high end look. They also have multiple class rooms for spin classes and yoga which all appear nice. What I was surprised at was the actual fitness rooms...they have a tiny room which has 4 treadmills (one was broken) 2 cycles, and 2 ellipticals and on the other side of the room weight benches and machines...but really a tiny room with a single TV, no windows, no water dispenser. They do have towels and TV can be changed to what ever channel you like, but everyone better be on the same page. It was really sad....kind of reminded me of my college dorm gym. Overall great place to use the pool and play tennis....but not the place for gym equipment unless you like working out in the basement. The staff is also extremely friendly and helpful. read more

The hubby and I came here last week, and we must not have been to the Kohler Resort in a while, because they remodeled the Sports Core! (or rearranged!). We always enjoy coming here. We usually just come for the hot tub, but since this mommy to be cant do hot tubs for the time being, I hit up the gym...at 4pm it was quite packed! Very nice gym though! They have plenty of cardio equipment to use...the usual bikes, elipticals and tredmills, machine weights and free weights. They also have balls and yoga mats for you to use as well to work those abs! Make sure you bring your water bottle...they only have two old school drinking fountains for water usage. Very clean and well kept! The pool area is nice as well. Nice sized pool with an indoor hot tub and an outdoor one, which is gorgeous to be in when its snowing!!!! They also have child care available for your kiddos and a salon with reasonable prices!!! Sports Core is a gymnasium and has indoor tennis courts, swimming pool, and a couple of rooms with cardio machines and weights. I went on a Friday morning while I was staying at Kohler with my husband and it was packed! I was lucky enough to find a treadmill for my run at 10 am! The machine and weight rooms are very crowded - there is very little space to move around and the availability is low. But the machines are in good condition and the service is great. The locker rooms are just okay - reminded me of my high school gym locker room a little. read more

Went to this gym several times while staying in Kohler for a long weekend and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff was extremely welcoming each and every time I checked in, always asking to see if me or my wife needed anything to make our visit "more comfortable". The locker rooms include locked lockers which is always nice, no need to being a lock from home. They have an indoor pool and a separate 25 yard pool dedicated specifically to lap swimming. There is an indoor and outdoor hot tub, both of them operational year round. We were here during the winter but it looks as though there's a lake in the back of the property for swimming, etc. They have a very nice looking tennis facility, an extensive cardio and weights section, a salon, a very nice pro-shop and snack shop, and several rooms for classes of all kinds including yoga, spinning, etc. It looks as though there's a healthy mixture of people from the community and Kohler resorts that utilize the gym which I would expect considering I would be happy to call this my full time gym if I lived in one of the surrounding areas. I would absolutely come back here if and when I visit again. read more

Probably one of the greatest benefits of staying at a Kohler-owned property was access to Sports Core. Probably the best gym I've ever been to. I could never afford membership at a place like this under normal circumstances. The pool, sauna, and hottub is amazing. During the summer, there's an outdoor hottub. The cardio/weight room is a bit smaller than at other gyms, but has good equipment. There's several tennis courts if that's what you're into. We had fresh smoothies at Take 5, their snack shop. My only criticism is there should be more group exercise classes on the weekends. And, for that matter, the evenings. This definitely seems to cater to the "stay at home moms." But it's a great workout experience, I was fortunate to check it out! read more

This gym has a couple pools, tennis courts, studios for classes and a relatively small weight and machine area (given size you would expect larger). It also has a salon and a little cafe where you can get sandwiches, smoothies and soups etc. Overall the place is crowded in mornings but then tapers off. I worked out at 11am and place was busy but I had no waits for machines or weights. By end of workout the crowd had thinned noticeably. Everything is well maintained and overall staff is friendly. If you want to workout in Kohler this is your best bet. The American club has a VERY small workout area in the Carriage house with a couple machines and bike, treadmill. Sports Core is the better workout option. read more

I beg to differ with the other reviewer Craig, but the Sports Core is a state of the art facility. It is beyond amazing. I wish we had it in Chicago. For members it has everything you could ask for, classes, pools (olypmic size), indoor tennis, weights, amazing cardio machines, Pilates machines, and other state of the art equipment. It also has an excellent day care facility for people who want to drop their kids off while they get a workout. I know of nothing like this place in Chicago, you have to come to Kohler to avail of it! read more

You seriously have to ignore any negative comments here. I spend a lot of time in Kohler, if you can find a better facility anywhere in the US, let me know. The variety and quality of the equipment are second to none. New items and equipment are constantly added. There is any kind of equi[ments and workout tools that have ever been on the market. I love the rower, there are two, there are many treadmills, one that is just for higher inclines. There are 2 pools, one lap pool, and another shorter one. There is a myriad of tennis courts. There is a lake outside where you can sit and play with your children, there is a hot tub . There is a small dining area. You can workout downstairs, which is very quiet, they have a room for Pilates only. They now have another larger room just for personal training. read more
