Best burger I had during my recent visit to Helsinki! Wait, it was the only burger I had while visiting Helsinki. The taste, presentation & price made for an awesome experience. I ordered a Bacon Cheese Burger & received a perfectly medium cooked patty with a pile of tasty fries. The burger was seasoned well & cooked to perfection, I was quite pleased with the flavor & constitution of the entire thing. The textures of the soft bun with the crispy bacon & crunchy produce worked nicely with the grilled beef patty. The fries were also something to write home about. They were cooked to a beautiful golden crisp & salted generously. I washed the feast down with a couple mugs of a local tap beer called Karhu, it was a flavorful amber. Sports Academy only offers 5 beers on tap. But, a plethora of bottled beer is available. They also offer a decent selection of spirits for harder drinks. The venue could use a few more TV's considering it is a sports bar. The interior & bathrooms could use some updating. The bathroom was dingy & dirty. Head to the bar to place your order & be sure to grab utensils & condiments before returning to your table. The entire meal & drinks were a good value which was quite a surprise. I had read Finland was going to be the most expensive stop on my trip to Scandinavia & Russia. I would dine here again. read more

If you want to get your burger and beer "on" while playing Texas Hold 'em/Blackjack this is the place for you. There are plenty of big screen TV's to watch sports and there are plenty of beers on tap. This is a good place to stop by if you need a quick break from walking around downtown Helsinki. I recommend bringing your passport as that is the most common form of ID that is accepted for entrance. I would come back for some suds. Plus when it's cold in Helsinki you want to get inside quick, so stop on by! read more

21 June 2016 Went here for another, and hopefully food-wise better Euro Cup -16 experience than at one of the competing sport pubs the day before. The game of the day was Northern Ireland-Germany, and even though the game wasn't that exciting the rest of the experience was great! Not sure for how long they've been using meat from the Roslund Meatshop, but I hope they never stop! Ordered the Bacon and Cheese Burger and got a perfectly medium cooked patty and really crispy fries that at least gave the impression of being restaurant-cut. The other sides also looked and tasted really fresh and good. In addition, the staff was great and everything was served promptly and without any fuss. Only minus for this establishment is the relative shortage of screens. Compared to its main competitor (one of the worldwide chains) which has screens in literally whatever direction one might look, Sports Academy would benefit from adding a few more. Or maybe rearrange the set-up of the venue. With this said however, there isn't really any problem. You might have to turn your head 10 degrees, but that's about it. The food was alright. Really just American bar food. A lot of TVs to watch sports, and nice decorations with pennants and hockey jerseys hanging on the wall. There was also an area for gambling, I think poker and blackjack but I am not sure. My chicken club sandwich with French fries was very good. If I'm looking for a place to watch a game in Finland or somewhere to gamble and have a beer, I'd likely go here. Good location in Helsinki as well, across the street from the train station. read more
