Great to grace the background of the must-have photo from the archaeological site in downtown…read morePompei. For me though, unless it was a critical high point, ascending around an active caldera (see: potentially dangerous, partially collapsed, smoldering ash heap), given its history, I'm like, "nah, I'm good." Across the ocean, Yellowstone is still active, massive and to be enjoyed. It is also less intimidating. As an alpinist and classically experienced summiteer, my aversion to hiking Vesuvio is easily explained. After the sad sight of the stone people down below -- the actual active volcano will never be a mandatory visit for me.

The trek to Vesuvius from Naples involves subway, train, and bus. On the train I learned that the…read morecouple beside me were headed to Pompeii, where I'd already been, and I was headed to Vesuvius, where they'd already been. It was time to trade tips and here's the best tip they gave me: "When you exit the train station in Ercolano, walk to your left. That's where the bus tickets are sold. Immediately after you purchase your bus ticket, walk to the center island opposite the train station exit. Get in line there. That's where the bus boards. Oh, and the bus tickets are cash only, so be prepared". Had I not talked to these folks I'd not have known exactly where to go when I got out of the train station. As it turns out, my quick b-line to the left meant that I purchased the last two tickets available on the next bus up and the following bus wasn't leaving until more than one hour later. So follow these directions. You're welcome. The lore around Mt. Vesuvius figures big in these parts so if you're in the area and able, it's worth a visit regardless of how you feel about hiking somewhere only to peer down into a (not very interesting) crater. The route up, even with the bus taking you up most of the way, isn't difficult but it's more difficult than I assumed it would be. and takes about 40 minutes each way. A hiking stick will be helpful, especially on the way down. Do check your bus number and know the time of its departure before you get off for the hike. You'll have a sticker denoting that you've paid for your bus ride down, but it's specific to the bus you rode up in and it'd be a huge bummer for it to leave without you. On the hike up I encountered a massive insect swarm and thought "well this is disgusting" but it had disseminated by the time I headed back down. You'll hike through some souvenir/drink/snack spots and there's another at the very top. Other than that, there's nothing to do here except peer into the crater that caused the demise of Pompeii then head back down again. I'd say this is a must see only because of the significance of Vesuvius in Southern Italy's history. One and done for me but now you know how best to navigate the journey as well.

I have never been to a car rental that gives your car away if you have a delay. I don't recommend this rental company. I'm very pissed off. Even with a 3 month prior reservation, after delays that were not our fault this inexperienced company let someone else take our car. If you are going to book a rental car go with any other rental company except B-Rental. I am very pissed off yet again. Further more in order for us to get another car, we need to get in contact with the customer service. Let me tell you, shittiest customer service I have ever seen in my life. We have places to be and they are treating us like nothing. No answer from there service and no help. Never using this company ever again.

On 11 July 2022 I was scheduled to rent a car from your Naples Airport location while in Italy for…read moremy honeymoon. I had booked the car through Expedia, verified there would be no issues with my US Driver's License and pre-paid for the rental. When I arrived, your location was very busy, did not appear to have many vehicles and would not rent to me due to my US Drivers License. The requirement you conveyed to Expedia, which I read prior to my rental said an International Drivers license would be required if my drivers license did not use roman alphabet. My US Driver's License does us roman alphabet but you would still not rent to me. I was on with Expedia's help team for over 90 minutes trying to resolve the issue but your desk agents would not rent to me. I spoke to representatives at several other car rental brands and they did not require a international drivers license from someone with a US license. I went back to your agents twice and no one would help me. I believe the real reason you would not rent to me is that either you did not have the class vehicle that I reserved or that the location was choosing to rent to higher rate customers instead of me with a low internet rate. After more than 2 hours, during my honeymoon, I finally found another car rental company that charged more than 3 times the original reservation rate. I had no choice by to book that or add on 8 hours to arrive to my destination and rely on busses the rent of my trip. A few days later, I found another car that was more reasonably priced so I had to drive from Ravello back to Naples to exchange the vehicles. That round trip took almost 3 hours, plus extra gas, tolls, and time away from our plans. Picking up the final car from Sixt, still cost me more than what my original reservation with you. I believed that you owe me the difference in the cost of the rentals, plus 10 Euro for fuel, tolls on the Auto Strada X2, and my lost time during my honeymoon which was supposed to be a nice and relaxing trip. Your rental company ruined my short honeymoon on the Amalfi Coast!   I've followed up with you multiple times via email with no response so I'm going to leave you the worst reviews that I can on all the travel sites that I can think of. Important information International rentals may have different driver license requirements. An international driving license is required if the drivers' license is non-roman alphabet. Original Reservation  -  B-Rent  $321.54 Emergency Rental     -  Alamo    $356.33 Replacement          -  Sixt     $305.29 Total                            $661.62 Cost Difference                  $340.08
