The salad bar was outstanding (so fresh, it's probably locally grown). The items with the local bacon speciality were also particularly good (Speck Knödel and Krautsalat with Speck). We also had spaghetti pomodoro and the noodles were top notch (of course it's Italy). The beef in the "Geröstetes" was nothing special (well, it was good beef, but I'm not really a big fan of beef), but the rest was delicious. The portions are generous, but not ridiculuous Even with only one waitress for 6 tables, service was excellent. The waitress also spoke excellent English (and understood what it means to be Vegetarian). The restrooms were also spotless. Overall, without alcohol or dessert, the bill came to €22/person, which is a good price for the quality and quantity of food. I'd go there again without hesitation, except the Vegetarian options are limited (as in most of Kastelruth/Castelrotto).

Restaurant Saalstuben was just a short walk from our Hotel (as is pretty much else in Town) and we were warmly welcomed as we stepped inside. They also have a nice outdoor Terrace, but it was a little too cold out and dark for that. Gayle and I split a mixed grill dinner combination, plus salad, a noodle dish, and of course dessert, and coffee. This is also the Alto Adige wine region, and when you throw in the German culture here, we couldn't go wrong with my beer and her white wine choice. The food was delicious and best of all, we had a chance to decompress after a long day. Our total bill was just shy of 50 Euros, which I thought was a very good value for the cuisine and service that we received.

Plenty of pasta dishes and three pages of pizza on the menu in addition to the standard Tirolian fare. I went for the Tirolian food, while my (vegetarian) wife opted for pasta pomodoro. The only thing we didn't fully enjoy were the salads in a rather heavy cream dressing. We would have preferred a lighter dressing. The portions were rather big, especially compared to our previous night's dinner at another place in town. Service was a bit mixed. There were two people tending to about 9 tables, half on the inside, half on the terrace. The salads arrived before the drinks and they forgot about our check for a few minutes after I flagged them down. Overall though, the service was courteous and effective.
