I signed up for a woodworking half-day workshop to make an uber-cool T-shelf (book shelf) via WeTeachme.Com at splinter and callous. It is run by two men that are quite passionate about woodworking and have been holding workshops since April.
You have the options of learning how to make a fire pit, a bench, T-shelf, bottle holder, cheese board and clothes rack.
apparently, this place is crowd sourced and you can also book through a crowd sourcing website for less than half the price I booked it for (but then again I'm the kind of person that never gets anything on sale - SADLY!).
You learn how to use a power saw to cut your two pieces of board into triangles. Unlike me, make sure you have your power saw running before you cut through the wood or it's going to move in the reverse direction and perhaps cut something (maybe yourself) on the way.
Then, you get to use the router (a spinning drill like thing) used to make slits in your pieces of wood.
Then to the drilling machine to make holes.
Put your book shelf or coffee table or bedside table together using plastic ties. Make sure your sand your finished product. And voila you're done!
If you have your own project, you can use the space to work on it too! :) read more
