I left without buying and went out to compare, but realized a quality product and quality people are worth So, not overstated, but Harley Snow is professional. she was intuitive and seemed to anticipate every question, but was patient and gave us time. A few years ago, I spent months working with Sarah designing 6 bathrooms for a large home in the south hills and found that everyone was quite helpful (I guess when you're spending $50,000 on fixtures, folks tend to want your money) and found quite a bit of success working with them. On my quest to replace shower door rollers, I said to myself, "Self, where should you go for replacement shower door parts?" And self agreed, "Plumbing supply yes!" Purchased Tile from Splash in Cranberry that came with a hefty price tag, so we excepted it to be quality tile. Each piece came individually wrapped, but we noticed a lot of stains on pieces but thought it was just the natural stone. Upon installing the tile was so discolored that it looked brown (it looked like coffee or tea had spilled all over it). We ended up tearing it out and going buying new tile at Best Tile for a third of the price and are much happier with the quality. I did talk to to someone about trying to return the tile, but was told it wouldn't be worth it had there is a 40% restocking fee and freight charge. Bottom line, go to Best Tile in Wexford instead. read more

I am the guy that waits until Friday the week before to buy the fixtures for a remodel that starts Monday. I needed something quick so I went to one of the big box stores. I won't mention the name but it rhymes with Shmoes. I wanted a handheld shower head in chrome. The only one I liked was in brushed nickel, so I asked the person "helping" me if it came in chrome and he said "just get it off of Amazon". Seriously, that's what he said. I went to splash because I know they specialize in fixtures for kitchen and bath. I needed a fixture that had a valve with integral stops. Cindy at splash was fantastic. She walked me through all the options and didn't make me feel foolish for not buying the highest of high end products. She listened to what I wanted and gave me the options they had in stock. They actually had the head I had wanted at "Schmoes" in stock and in chrome. read more

If you go to Splash, order your items 3-4 weeks before your construction begins or you will be waiting - they do not stock any items. If you order Kohler just know they wait til they have numerous orders to place the actual order with the company so you may wait 2 weeks while they get more orders to save on shipping. We used Kristin as our designer from there. She is the owners daughter in law. She is very good with ideas, picking finishes, etc. but they do not provide layouts or any other help to your contractor unless it is a "Splash" contractor. Make sure you know that and ask your contractor if he knows how to install without a layout. Ferguson across the street stocks Kohler & most other bathroom companies products. read more

Don't you love when a store surprises you for the better? HARDWARE Since Splash is so conveniently located by my office, I continued to stop by for inspiration as my kitchen renovation began. Well, I was lucky enough to meet Beth! She was the first person in the store to be friendly and personable towards me. And, conveniently enough, she works in cabinet hardware, which was where I had been having quite the mental block. I showed her my cabinet and countertop samples, telling her that I wanted to do a hardware color that was more out of the box, like copper or brushed gold. She immediately pulled one board off the wall, and I knew right away that was the hardware I would purchase. Just to clarify, I never feel this way about anything. I like to look at every known option and THEN make my decision. I also don't like to trust other people to curate my options for me. So the fact that I (a) trusted Beth as a consultant and designer and (b) went with her recommendation is pretty monumental for me. She asked the vendor to send me a free sample of the hardware and told me to come back once the cabinets were installed so we could order the exact sizes and styles that were needed. I would occasionally browse around in Splash or on Pinterest during this period of time and always felt affirmation that we had made the right choice. I also shopped around for the hardware at a nearby competitor and online and found that her quoted pricing was very competitive. My final consultation with Beth was just as enjoyable and easy as the first. I arrived with pictures of my kitchen and had drawn in pencil my ideas for the size and placement of the hardware. We agreed on everything except that she encouraged me to change the size of the hardware on several different cabinets to make sure that the hardware would be large enough to give the visual impact that I would want. I am so happy she encouraged me in this direction because I think otherwise I would have been a bit disappointed. My order was direct shipped to my home and arrived just six days later. I am so pleased with the whole process and can't wait for my contractor to install the hardware next week. BACKSPLASH After my initial interaction with Beth, I decided to also check out Splash for backsplash. I had hoped that she was able to cross departments, but she told me that she only worked in hardware and recommended that I work with one of the tile consultants. I set up an appointment with a lady (sorry, it's horrible that I can't remember her name). I gave her my overall design ideas and we started shopping around for the perfect subway tile. I liked that she gave her perspective while still allowing me to have my own personal opinion and aesthetic. The first 45 minutes of the appointment went very smoothly and I was feeling pretty good about everything. After selecting the tile options, we returned to her desk and she asked me if I would like to receive a quote. We had discussed the fact that I needed to return to work as I was just on my lunch break, but I said that I could definitely stay a little bit longer. Unfortunately, this process took three times longer - another 45 minutes - than I had expected. She was a bit frustrated with my Lowe's designer's lack of detail regarding the walls and windows around the backsplash in the drawings, so determining the dimensions took a very, very long time. However, I was looking for merely a price estimate, not perfection, with this quote. As I was feeling very antsy and anxious about returning to work so late, two bombs were dropped - (1) the cost was twice as much as I had budgeted for backsplash and (2) the lead time for this backsplash was 6+ weeks. Even if I was willing to spend the money needed for this high-end, California-made product, my contractor couldn't wait six weeks for it to be handmade. This was information that I wished that I had known up front - approximate square footage costs and lead times - that could have potentially made us focus on more affordable and/or faster lead time products throughout the consultation. read more

I had always wanted a walk in bathtub. After talking to some friends, they said that maybe a better choice would be a jacuzzi tub. My plumber (Tom Stock) recommended that I check out Nicklas Supply in Cranberry. His wife told me that she had recently gone there and the staff was just wonderful to work with. "Everyone is just so nice" she said. So, off I went to see if I could find a jacuzzi tub. I walked into Splash and was directed to the "tub" section. I was looking at the tubs when all of a sudden a voice behind asked if she could help me. I was in love with this beautiful Brizo tub that was on display and from there I couldn't have met a nicer person to deal with than Cindy Schad. She told me to take off my shoes and get in. I knew it was the tub I wanted and from there she took over, answering every question, contacting my plumber for me as I was uncertain of how much room I could allow for. She took care of everything!!! Couldn't have been nicer, couldn't have been kinder and more patient showing me different accessories, helpful in decisions I was making, answering all my questions. I purchased the tub of my dreams - and as I left I felt that if I had any questions that weren't answered I could call her anytime. She was wonderful to work with. I can't say enough about Cindy Schad. I think that it's so important to feel like someone is taking an interest in what you want when you're remodeling and she went above and beyond that. My tub was delivered on time and this week my bathroom is being prepared for a tub that I cannot wait to try out. Cindy made my purchasing experience one that I will never forget. Kindness seems to be lacking at times these days - that's not lacking at Splash. I would recommend to all my friends who never heard of Splash ( and I had never heard of it until my plumber told me) to go and see for themselves and ask for Cindy. Unless you want a seriously delayed kitchen project, do not shop at Splash. You can get any of the same products online for cheaper, much faster, and delivered right to your door. Let me share with you my experience. 1. I selected and ordered a faucet after visiting the showroom twice (the Glenshaw satellite location). 2. I did the final transaction via telephone. This made me really nervous from the outset because there's no confirmation email or anything so you can't confirm it's the right faucet. It was told 7-14 days. 3. I called after 7 days to see the approximate arrival. They couldn't tell me. They have no way to track an order. She couldn't even tell me if the order had been placed. 4. I called after 16 days. It was finally in. (Note, I'm doing all the calling). 5. I went to pick it up. They open at 10 a.m. for summer hours (normally it's 8:30). I got there at 10:30 and the showroom was closed. Apparently everyone was in a meeting at the Cranberry location. I was able to pick up the faucet down in the plumbing supply store that is below the Splash showroom. 6. I opened the box when I got home. It's the wrong faucet. SO, 3.5 weeks later with three trips to the store we paid more, waited longer, and have the wrong faucet. You are also charged a 30% restocking fee if you return anything. Their approach to sales is archaic and they have to stay in business by working directly with contractors only. Do not put yourself through the hassle of buying from Splash. read more

The sales people in the showrooms have nothing more than attitude to give. I am anxious to re-do my bathroom and I can't get service from the sales people. I went to Cranberry and the sales person gave me a brochure with their website and literally said, "Look online or call a decorator". The visit to the Murrysville showroom was just as futile. I happened to be in the area and stopped by. I learned that if you don't have an appt, don't even bother stopping. That is twice I walked out of the showroom without as much as a "happy to help you" response. Have they cornered the market so much so that they can afford to have customers walk out the door? I am busy looking for another business that is deserving of my time and money. read more
