One of my roommates from undergrad and I came here for drag brunch the other day and had an absolute blast. I'm kind of floored by the great value of this brunch. The performers were so talented and the $60 cover actually covered *a lot*... the same drag brunch on the west coast would have been far higher cost for less value. It was a small crew there for the show, but the artists really kept everything moving. It says a lot when there's a smaller audience and nobody feels weird about it. Also, a quick thank you for having disco Cher on the playlist. I feel like she always gets overlooked! I'm flying back to Seattle and the story I might tell the most is that I had to cross out a Bible verse written on a dollar bill so nobody thinks I'm evangelizing at them. Would give zero stars if possible. The two bouncers (one female and one male) are both idiots and should be fired. They wouldn't let my friend who is 23 in because they "never seen a Massachusetts ID like his". Yeah they probably haven't because his was an actual REAL ID. Why turn away people when your bar is the emptiest place on the street? Whoever owns/manages this place should be embarrassed for employing such incompetent bouncers. Buy a scanning machine like Sidetrack, if you're going to be anal about IDs instead of letting some imbecile bouncer with two brain cells decide if it's real. read more

Don't come here!!! I was here Halloween weekend hoping to try this bar and have a good time, it started with us being in line and being told it was 5 dollars to get in and we can only pay by card which is fine, as soon as I pay I got charged 10, which sucked but is whatever, I understand it was packed because Halloween but it was so tight in there people started leaving after 15 min of being there. Also this one is on me for not asking but any bar I've gone before would charge 5-7 dollars for a shot, they charged me 12 dollars for a shot and since I got 2 and water, my total came out to 31 dollars. Now you're wondering why the math isn't adding up? It's because that charged me the rest for the water! I didn't ask for some fancy water, a cup with ice would have been. Seeing how busy they were, I brushed it off until this morning when I saw the price change due to the tip, I'll be honest, I was a bit ticked from the night there I tipped around 3-4 dollars for the 31, but this morning I saw they added a 13 dollar tip, I sure as hell sobered up when I saw the price of drop shots so I know I didn't tip 13. For those wondering, yes, this used to be Mini Bar. They've done some updating to it, but overall, it keeps a lot from the previous place. We were just in town for Market Days and visited it not expecting much, but we really did love it and it became kind of our go to bar for the weekend. I typically enjoy Sidetracks, but the music and the atmosphere at Splash was phenomenal. I didn't get the DJ's name, but she was there both Saturday and Sunday and she kept throwing out what seemed to be perfect tunes for the occasion. If you aren't familiar with the old Mini Bar, then you should know that this place is basically made up of a few areas. There are two side bars, a dance floor with a bar and then an odd, isolated bar downstairs which isn't always open or busy. Not sure if it's going to be a common scene, but they did have some go-go dancers during the day, but that may have just been a Market Days thing. read more

I truly believe that the Splash Chicago is a great bar. The atmosphere rocks. The staff are always inviting and welcoming. No matter what time of the day or what day of the week you go to Splash Chicago, it always feels welcoming and relaxed. Zero attitude from both staff and patrons alike, along with the great cocktail options. I love vibing to the music which is loud enough to put you in a good mood but not loud enough that you can't still have a conversation. I always have a great time at Splash. read more

I recently moved to the Lakeview area after living in California for three years so I have been taking the time to try out new places and find new go to spots around the area. There are so many bars and restaurants within walking distance so it is sometimes hard to choose which one to go to. My girlfriend, her friend and I decided to check this place out to just grab a quick after dinner. Little did we know we would stay and party here for the rest of the night. The atmosphere is quite energetic. You walk in to the front bar which is a good spot to grab your drink and then explore. There's a second room to the left that has chairs and another bar. Perfect place to get prepared before you get up and dance. Then towards the back is the awesome dance floor. There is a back bar on the dance floor so no need to go to a different bar to get a drink, unless you want less of the crowd. Drinks are also reasonably priced as well. Music here is great. It has a Vegas feel in terms of music, so a lot of mainstream mixed over EDM beats. I will say if you're not a fan of EDM this may not be the place for you. Luckily I am and I really enjoyed my time here. I will definitely go back. read more

I wish I could rate this a zero. I had the worst experience and I hadn't even gone inside the establishment. I was waiting in line for the bar and I hadn't drank all night long. As I waiting in line I saw this gorgeous girl in line with me, she had amazing makeup and an outfit that was servingggg. So ofc I complimented her with enthusiasm because she was looking fierce and giving mother. As I got to the bouncer, my friend handed his id and then I handed the bouncer mine. He accepted the id but said to me "your friend can go inside but not you". I asked him calmly why I wasn't allowed inside and he said with an attitude, "you know why". Mind you my friend and I both had Michigan state licenses so I knew that wasn't the problem. He just had a problem with thinking I was drunk when I wasn't because I complimented someone in line. I explained to him I wasn't intoxicated and yet he didn't care. He kept giving me an attitude and begging my friend to come in but not myself. I have never experienced something like this at any bar ever in the United States. The male and female bouncer kept trying to get me out of line even though I kept my composure and was trying to be polite as possible. No one should ever experience anything like this trying to go out and have a fun night with friends especially in an openly lgbt+ community. I hope the owner of this establishment fire these workers before I personally contact them myself or make legal actions. read more

Splash is one of my favorite bars in Boystown! I am never disappointed. From the amazing DJ's to the drag shows it has something for everyone. I love that I can see women working there which is something I think goes unnoticed an unappreciated. So thank you! Something that may seems silly however means a lot to me is the Hay Straws that Splash uses. Everyone should be taking steps however small to protect the ecosystem. read more

The staff is fun, the music is lively, and the weekends here are a blast. There are 3 different bars to get drinks from on the weekends. Two are next to the dance floor, and one is in more of a lounging type area. Every Thursday of the week they have a drag show called The Sirens of Splash! The hosts are great, funny, and aren't shy about speaking their minds. They have a happy hour from 6pm-8pm Monday-Friday, and other specials during the week as well. Usually only one bar is open during weekdays. Always a fun time when friends and I go. Highly recommend stopping by and forming your own opinion. Just remember to drink responsibly! read more

The FEMALE BOUNCER will ruin your night. She has made multiple rude comments to different groups I've brought to Splash, and has taken many of my friends' IDs, despite us being above the legal age, having vaccine cards, and no one being drunk in the slightest. When asked about why we were denied entry, she decided to keep the ID, making us call the police to make her give it back. Immature, offensive, and unreasonable behavior can be expected before you even get in the door here. There are plenty other bars in Boystown. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. I visited Splash while I was on a conference out of town and I had NO outerwear at all. It was before close but we were last people in the bar and I ordered an Uber and had a 8 minute wait time. The bartender KICKED me out of the space between the front door and the entry door after I pleaded with him - showing him I had no winter clothes and that the uber was on his way.... if you want a shitty bar as a last min option definitely come here for bare minimum service but you're money is best spent supporting other businesses who actually care read more

Having three different bars to order from on the weekends makes it super convenient to keep your cocktail full and dance it out on their huge dance floor at the back.
