I was left without anything to show for my investment after working for years with this artist. By the time he was done with the project I was not informed of the issues that rendered the final product unusable for the role we initially discussed. When it was clear that it wasn't going to be getting any better on its own I tried to communicate directly to resolve the matter. We agreed it wasn't really fixable and I declined his only offer that would have cost me more money to try again when I wasn't very trusting of him to do this specific work anymore. I did, however, think we could still maybe rework it into something displayable. Or if he didn't want to work on it anymore then a refund to cover a fair amount of the cost as I couldn't use it at all and still needed to replace the now damaged goods.
In the end I received only a small partial refund that almost covers the current price of replacements for the items I originally supplied for him to be worked on, but after that it did not reduce the amount I had paid for the now unusable work. I told him that I didn't agree with this, since I couldn't even display the work he sent and I ended up paying to send it back to him. Then I was ignored, later blocked, and after I asked others who knew him for help in reopening discussions I received a Cease and Desist notice from him instructing me to stop trying to discuss the issue with anyone associated with him directly or risk legal trouble.
I advise everyone to thoroughly discuss and clarify terms upfront. It's important to understand what will happen if/when something gets damaged, or goes wrong. The end result of working with him has left me with damaged artwork I can't even display or use for its original role. The state he returned it in is incredibly sad to see. Waste of time and money. read more
