3.7 Spitfire was recommended to us by a local who eats here regularly and adores the place and the owners and staff. I also noticed that it's currently the highest rated place in this area. The local said the food was great and the service exceptional. He's right. It's a terrific place. I received a beautiful warm and friendly greeting on arrival. It's not a large place but it feels good here with an overall Spitfire influenced theme. That's Spitfire as in Spitfire the old aeroplane. I wasn't in an adventurous mood so ordered the Spitfire Burger with chips. The chips were delicious. Hot, tasty and beautifully cooked Very generous serve too. Same with the burger. Decent sized. In fact, too big for me to go close to finishing it. It had a good flavoured patty and was also very nicely cooked. This is a good, very well run place. Everything's in harmony. It's clearly a much loved place going by the people coming in and out regularly and the warm greetings and conversation I could hear. Nice place. Recommended. read more

If you're a burger fan you must come to Spitfire. Burgers are named in the aviation theme, they're massive and would have to be the best on the Peninsula. They come served with a knife pierced though the middle to hold it all together! And the sweet potato chips/wedges are a must, consider them to be the healthy alternative to the usual plain potato. Service is attentive & friendly and kids are catered for with colouring pictures & pencils which is a pleasant distraction to a mobile phone. If you have room for dessert, well there are options too but I've never been able to fit in dessert. There are lots of aviation photos & memorabilia to keep enthusiasts happy. read more

Biggest burger in the Peninsula worth having a crack. I was undecided if it was delicious or not as my attention was completely focused on consuming this beast called the spitfire. Highly recommend for big eaters. Everyone at our table got lamb or beef based burgers and no one left empty bellied that's for sure. The staff werw also quite polite and provided great service. The restaurant is nicely decorated - pretty unusual with the fighter plane pics amd memorabilia. I loved it! Food - two words....awesome burgers! They are huge and built beautifully. We had both the chicken and beef versions. The JN-4 with the kransky was spectacular. The mustang was the other favourite. The beef burgers were so juicy even we got well done for the kids. Great flavour. A word of warning - if you stress over burgers falling apart this is not for you. There is so much good stuff packed in here that you cannot have it fall apart. Excellent little find in Rosebud, a town you'd drive through to get someplace much cooler. Spitfire has the most amazing and huge burgers. The place is small maybe only 6-8 tables. But the waitstaff is super friendly and fast. Great food, service and the price was amicable. read more

This is an awesome cafe. The burgers are delicious. The ingredients were so fresh and all the flavor combinations went together harmoniously. The portions were stupidly enormous - one burger could easily feed two people. They have a small but tasty kids menu and gave the kids colouring pencils and sheets. Complete waste of time. Went to restaurant, waited a while to get a seat outside in the cold which was fine as it was a busy period. Waited ages to get any service and was then told they ran out of meat!!!! At 7 pm on a Sunday. Could only order chips. What a complete waste of an hour, could have told us earlier rather then just let their customers sit out in the cold. When we called at 8pm out of interest, was told there was magically space in the restaurant and we could come in, no mention of lack of food. Either inept or dishonest, either way absolutely no reason to ever want to try. read more

Hands down best burgers. I drive 50 minutes to this place for a burger. The wait staff are excellent, and the owners and their two boys are brilliant, very friendly and up for a chat. The 3rd time we went there, my 6 month old was a bit restless and wouldn't lay still in the pram, so one of the owners picked him up and walked up and down the restaurant with him whilst my wife and I were able to eat our burgers. Ingredients always fresh and, nothing is too hard for them. Their menu says no alterations to the burgers, but they always accommodate if you want something changed. I don't even look at the menu any more, I just ask the owner to make me something and he comes up with a burger. Bring your appetite, they are seriously big. read more
