I've been here a few times, particularly in the summer due to the outdoor seating area offering a fab view of Newcastle Quayside. The Hub offers bike hire and repair facilities as well as providing fortnightly social bike rides! What draws me in is the fab little cafe as I'm a sucker for homemade cakes (yesterday's choice being the caramel shortbread)! Always served by friendly faces and although the service can be a little slow in peak times, it is worth the wait!

The chapters gather more heavily on the weekends. The cafe inside has a great selection of food and drinks! Sodas, waters, juices and even BEER! I had the "famous" bacon sandwich... Skeptical as always when people call something famous. It was really nice. Lovely fresh bread! The bacon came from a pig with a nice personality. I'm curious about the other food they offer. They got us kitted out with two sturdy bikes, two helmets, and two locks for only twenty pounds total. Considering that the amusement arcade in Morecambe charges twenty pounds per bike this was an amazing deal. We had a very long trip and had to walk several hills, but at the top of each we were surrounded by the breathtaking scenary of the near-south-lakes. We arrived in Kendal after three hours, enjoyed a nice lunch at Farrer's, and had a long trip back via national route six. I called because it looked like we wouldn't make it back in time and the owner let us bring the bikes back in the morning. I will definitely hire bikes from here in the future, and I will always remember this trip.

It's great for the casual cyclist. However, and it's quite a big however, they don't have that much choice of manufactures and they don't have a lot of bikes out on display. For example, they only had Specialized women's bikes built up and in the store. Their other relatively high-end manufacturer is Kona and they have some pricing issues at the moment as most people will be aware. On the plus side, the staff are extremely helpful, and they have a very good selection of kids bikes, BMX and commuter cycles. Although we bought our bikes elsewhere, we did go back to this store to purchase a car rack and a fair few other accessories and they were really helpful showing me how to set the bike rack up on my car.

A selection of bats (from low end to high end), batting pads in all shapes, sizes and weights, and a similarly wide variety of gloves and the now essential helmets. I also remember that they were willing to advise me in terms of exactly what I was looking for and how much I was willing to pay, and I clearly remember that they knocked 10% off the total price because I told them which team I played for. So I went back in last week, and gladly, nothing seems to have changed. I'll remember this place if I ever take up cricket again.
