It was conveniently located close to us so we started going. The first class was tough. For a person who has tried a couple of the franchise boxing gyms in Vancouver - I had the wind knocked out of me a little bit - but in a great way. I found the instructors to be invested in improvement, technique, and structure from the beginning. I genuinely felt like I took away something from that class, and I find that quite rare for fitness classes. Not only have me and my husband become "regulars" to our standards, but we have also been able to genuinely build a passion for boxing through these classes. Every instructor is passionate about how they teach, what they teach and how you are progressing. I have lower back issues and multiple times, from other regular comers, professional boxers that compete and attend the gym and the instructors, I have gotten so much advice on how I could help with that pain and strengthen my muscles. I genuinely feel like you become a part of a family here - and I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for something to grow into, a caring family to be a part of and a KICK-ASS workout.

I paid the owner cash up front for three months membership, I showed him my drivers license and signed a list of basic rules and regulations. Standard procedure. The times I go, I have seen many shady people around the property and handful of shady gym members as well. One day this week a guy came in after he sat in the parking lot for 30 min, after everyone left but me, he came in, he had on a heavy trench coat, a hat and dark sun glasses on a sunny day. We were alone in the gym, I left immediately. For the most part it has been an ok experience. Until I went recently and the owner was there. I waved a friendly hello, he looked at me like he saw a ghost. I was there about an hour. After the owner walked by me several times looking at me like he wanted me to leave, he finally walked up to me and asked me how I got in & what is my name. I reminded him that I paid him cash for a membership for three months. He asked me to step outside and re scan my key fob so he can make sure ... .... .... Which of course I did. He says ok ok and walks away quickly. I went to his office that he ran to and asked was everything ok, was my membership ok, he said yes it is showing he never turned around to acknowledge me. Rude! I left right away. He was very unfriendly. This is after a 20 something guy was in there obviously recording people working out on his phone and laughing. I e mailed the studio yesterday and got a respond immediately(!!!) , yes i can drop in , it's 25$ cash or check only and Matt rental would be 2$, Saturday7.30 to 9am. Great my hotel is one mile down the road so here I go. Veronica opened the door at about 7.15 am and welcomed me warmly, all the other students seemed nice also. At the beginning of the practice she just sat us down and let is close our eyes told us to reflect on our physical, emotional and mental body, this is not traditional and I loved it , for me it took away this competition feeling Ashtanga can sometimes have. Then we started moving through primary , count in Sanskrit in a very even pace , it was just what it should be , moving with breath! Veronica frequently reminded us to watch our knees and breath and also where the drishti is. Quite a few people stopped at their personal point of Primary and went to the back of the room to do finishing. Veronica led us also through rest , that's not traditionally done in Ashtanga either , I appreciated it so much it was so much easier to not have the mind go wander with her guidance. I would love to do a Mysore class with her because the assists that i got during LED were very good. If you like Ashtanga Yoga you should treat yourself, I hope I can come back one day!
