We have just had the Curry Deal which included the best Onion Bhaji's we have eaten for a while. The service was excellent and we will be using this service again. read more

(I think) I've settled on four not because I am difficult to please, I still think command line interfaces are the height of cool after all. I've given it four because I can't justify a five.. Don't get me wrong, this is my favourite takeaway Pizza place in Newcastle/Gateshead by a wide margin however something tells me this is more to do with other Pizza places in the area being somewhat not good (to avoid sounding derisive) as opposed to Papa John's being the be all and end all of North East pizza. The location isn't really convenient if you want an impulse pizza to take home on the return from work, out of the way of most major urban and suburban locations and it only does in store takeaways or delivery, no in-store seating, an obvious point but since I am the first reviewer a point that should be mentioned. It is heavily geared towards those who already frequent the Team Valley area for work and how I first came across it. The price is the main issue here, expensive but worth it if already nearby. I just can't recommend going out of the way to collect if you want a pizza when most major urban areas nearby have their own bevy of pizza places that are much more convenient and probably cheaper. This issue is of course less pertinent if you want a delivery but at busy traffic times the extra journey length can have a painful effect on the temperature. It is similar in price to the other main pizza chains like Dominoes and Pizza hut (You can get a discount if you order online) but significantly more expensive than local places. If you've got time and money to spare it is far and away the best place to pizzaficate your hunger with plenty of toppings and definitely the most delicious base in the area. I just can't give it a five because even for me writing a review, it is more of an afterthought when debating where to eat, plenty of places are closer or cheaper. It is up to you to decide whether the gap in quality makes up for it. If this review seems torn, it is because I am

For starters I had 12 vegetarian spring rolls with a dip (£3) and for the main meal It was boiled rice and mixed vegetables with cashew nuts (£4.60). Decent food and not too salty either. Plenty of vegetarian options. Many different set meals to choose from which is good if you're ordering for a few. One of the better things about this place is the fact it's open 7 days a week including bank holidays. The speed of the delivery was reasonable considering I live a little more than two streets away.

There's a good selection of produce but it's more expensive than Asda or Tesco. There's a home delivery service available, a deli counter and a hot food counter that's popular at lunch times.

Today, Brie 35p, and recent purchases, melons 25p, chilled marscapone sauce 10p. Often these things are suitable for freezing so you don't have to eat them on the day of purchase. Lots of special offers that run for a few weeks - for instance their Fairtrade medium ground coffee has been £1. Look for these on the end of aisles. Annoyingly, they often stock products only for a special offer period and then they're gone from the shelves! Good selection of wines, including Fairtrade wines - in fact the range of Fairtrade foods including seasonal fresh fruit, is very good for the size of shop. I find the staff friendly but often not enough of them on the checkouts. Also stocks newspapers.

Chicken looked and tasted like it had been soaked in water to give it volume. There was paper in my food and I really wonder if some part of my meal had been reheated from the previous evening. I'm off MSG laden Chinese food for good. Easy for me to level this accusation, just as easy to have a hygienic kitchen and safe food prep...
