Edit:
After returning it seems that what they did was charge me an extra 8 GBP service charge before giving me a 20% (8 GBP) discount meaning there was no real reduction of my bill, they seem to think that claiming I stated my meal was fine is their get-out-of-jail-free clause which in-fact I quite clearly stated to the waiter that it 'was not at all satisfactory' even my friend accompanying was a witness along with a packed restaurant and multiple staff who not only made a big scene about me requesting that the two items where taken off my bill, which the people opposite us where also witness to and the supposed manager was called out, which strangely was not the same manager I spoke to today, although the other "supposed manager" was present in the establishment.
The manager refused to refund the two items, stay away from this restaurant the operating nature can only be described as criminal at best. Because it is rented in a public council-owned food court if you have similar problems as myself you can elevate your complaints to Cardiff City Council on 029 2087 2087 or the brewery quater on 02920 389500.
Do not put up with criminal disrespectful behavior, they have proven themselves to be outright liars thinking that I will have no case against a one mans word against another mans word argument which is a low and pathetic move to make. We can benefit from much better establishments in place of this one very low-quality curry house.
-------------------------------- Original Review below
Unprofessional service, one dissonant table waiter and below average food quality.
I would not have left this review, however;
I ordered Aloo Gobi and Coconut Rice, the rice tasted like desiccated coconut lazily mixed with boiled rice with a pinch of turmeric, visually it looked like they had recovered the rice from a discarded leftover plate due to its non-uniform colour distribution and slightly dried out appearance.
The Aloo Gobi was run of the mill, nothing special, the flavor was not well rounded and left an unpleasant taste in my pallet.
I tried to get through it like a good sport but left 70% and requested it was not added to the bill, I was paying for myself and a friend for a nice evening out, when I requested that the dish where not to be added to the bill I was somewhat interrogated at my table in public by two waiter staff as if I where not wanting to pay my half of the bill in order to get a partially free meal. As a result rather than scratch the two items from the bill they negated 20% leaving the bill at 40 GBP.
This means they only negated 8 GBP leaving me to pay for the rice, which felt like a slap in the face because it's not by any means a quiet establishment, the total 12.10 GBP that should have been removed from the bill (3.75 + 8.35) is by no means a loss to the average takings for the day or our bill.
I just feel that being served a bad dish is one matter in itself, but then to be disrespected in public by the waiter staff and then given a 20% discount is equivalent to a slap in the face, only the actions of a vindictive counter-attack which is not how a professional establishment should operate.
If the situation was professionally dealt with, having had some discretion, I would have walked away somewhat happier, however, I walked out receiving dirty looks from waiter staff and dismissive demeanor's.
I do feel that it ruined my evening.
On the other hand, my friend really enjoyed his buttered chicken curry dish and agreed my dish tasted somewhat off in comparison.
The prices they charge can only be justified by the beautiful environment, not at all by the quality of food in my opinion or 'professionalism' of staff. read more
