Okay, so despite the fact that this restaurant has been in Southgate quite some time I've never…read moreactually tried it, it's rare that I have friends come up to this part of the world, so it's even rarer that I will sit down in an Indian restaurant locally, so this review is about two take-always I had from here .The first of which I tried consisting of a Chicken Balti with the usual accompaniments of Peshwari Nan, Raita and Pilao Rice it was quite nice but slightly salty which annoyed me a bit as a Balti is one of my favourite dishes, but the second takeaway I got was a real treat. BTW I did let the restaurant know about the first disk, but thought I would give them a 2nd go and I'm glad I did. The Chicken Dansak was I would say almost perfect, succulent Chicken, just the right amount of sweet/sourness and tasty fresh ingredients. It redeemed itself after the first takeaway. Recommended!

It was a Friday night and the restaurant was about half full. As we entered, the first thing I noticed was the pleasant decor. It wasn't at all, in your face flashy, it was very reserved. Probably trying to be all things to all people, which can be a hard balancing act. Very friendly staff. Very professional. The menu seemed very consistent with most of the other indian restaurants that I go to. I always keep an eye out for something unusual or unique, but not this time. The food itself was amazing. To me it tasted very fresh. It had slightly different spices than I'm used to. I also noticed that the menu was very slightly cheaper than what I'm used to paying which was a bonus really. I'll definitely return one day and will be sure to recommend to friends.

The Chicken Tikka Balti here tastes really authentic and is served on the proper metal rounded plates. We came on a Saturday night so there was a bit of a wait for food. The atmosphere in this place is good, brown and subdued. Day of The Raj is not a big place but it is really good which is why it's lasted so long. The curry served here is not oily at all (something that is very important to me). You get the real sense that Day of the Raj relies on local business and it therefore good. My brother raved about this place and this is why I had to try it. There is a Sunday buffet on offer but the good news is they do not stop providing dishes from the regular menu. You can't go wrong at this place but be sure to reserve on weekends.

I was impressed with the price, as I bought quite a lot of food for a much lower price than a lot of other takeaways nearby. The quality was absolutely brilliant. The food was fresh and extremely tasty, there was so much flavour and it was absolutely lovely. I was really really impressed with it, and wouldn't have changed anything. There's still some food left over too. The delivery service was also good and fairly speedy, so I was happy with that too. Highly recommended.
