Ever since Mowgli's Kök opened, I have made a point of being a regular customer. The food is fresh…read moreand delicious, and very clearly cooked with a lot of care. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, and the staff will gladly cater to any food allergies. Their lunch offer is a steal: along with your choice of a lunch menu dish, you may help yourself to papadams (crisp, thin bread), mango chutney to dip it in, and some dal (lentil stew). Every dish during lunch and dinner comes with a fresh and tasty side salad, usually including some pomegranate seeds and ranch dressing.
As they are a Bengali restaurant, most of the dishes hail from Bangladesh, but there are some typical Indian dishes on the menu as well to choose from. I would personally recommend Morfars Tiffin Box - both mormors and morfars tiffin box menu items include a three-course meal resembling home-cooked food your grandmothers might make if they were Bengali. I also love Begun Torkari (an eggplant curry) and Kumra Torkari (a pumpkin curry), both traditional dishes from Bangladesh. In terms of Indian menu items, I would recommend the Palak Ponir and Malai Kofta (they are prepared in the Bengali way). The Chicken Tikka Sizlar always looks and smells amazing when I see it being served, but I haven't had the chance to try it yet.
They also have plenty of drinks on the menu - not only such treats as mango lassi, but also a small selection of Indian beers and one from Bangladesh. During lunch hour, they include flavored rhubarb water and mango lassi in addition to regular still water as a self-service.
The staff are always friendly to my friends and me, and very accommodating when we order. They serve with a smile on their faces, and it's great to see such a pleasant restaurant atmosphere. It is possible to split the bill and pay individually when you go up to the counter after your meal, so don't worry if you're bringing in a large group!
I highly recommend this cozy and trendy restaurant for its warm staff and its excellent food!
