And wouldn't answer my questions in regards to those missed follow-ups without requiring me to make yet another appointment & had the audacity to be RUDE about it. Total lack of accountability and competence. Totally forgot about me 3 times in the 2 years I'd been seeing them. Dr. Grabemeyer-Layman has horrible bedside manners, abrasive communication style and lacks accountability for her shortcomings. If you value healthy communication, respectful interactions & timely follow-ups I don't recommend wasting your time or resources with her.

They are so caring, really take the time with you, and I never had a problem getting in at a reasonable time. But they really screwed over their patients going to the Direct Primary Care model. No matter how you slice it, the numbers don't make sense. You pay a monthly fee to remain a patient and get discounts on Services, some prescriptions, some labs. But they don't accept insurance. So you can't use your HSA and nothing goes towards your deductible. Even just allowing the use of the HSA would make it more reasonable. But, if you need any tests, surgery, or care beyond their capabilities you will need your regular insurance to be seen elsewhere. While the idea sounds good, it just costs more for the patients in the long run. Not to mention now we are left high and dry trying to find a new practitioner and most places are not accepting new patients because of the sudden influx of patients who left FPSJ.

My impression was Dr. Schillio valued quantity over quality when it came to his practice. I will not use or recommend Dr. Schillio unless it was a dire emergency. This is not intended to question Dr. Schillio's ability to practice medicine. I'm sure he's a fine doctor, I just didn't click with his patient relationship / understand needs / listening ability.
