It has free access to computers with internet access where you can spend limited time on PC's before you must log in once again. The library itself has had a new facelift and the ergonomics of the layout are much better than many years ago. The building can easily be accessed for wheelchairs as there is an outdoor ramp and car parking is available on the side street for public use. Overall, this is a decent and peaceful library as you can hardly hear any outdoor traffic because of its soundproof windows. Make sure you make the most out its resources.

They do have a fairly sizeable children's section, a usually quiet reading area, computers for Internet use, and an interesting section of local history books. They also tend to regularly have a trolley of books for sale, which was another main attraction for me. I managed to get a Jeeves and Wooster omnibus for 50 pence, as I recall, as well as several other great finds. The books are on a self-check-out system, the first I'd ever seen, though I'm sure this is becoming more common. Usually the system works, but on occasion it causes problems and you'll need to go to the desk. All of the libraries in the Liverpool system are connected, so if you can't find what you want at one, you can have books ordered in on loan from other libraries around the city. Also, if you live in Liverpool, library cards are free for any library in the city.

Well, this library is definitely one of the smallest I've ever visited but has quite a modern look about it, featuring free Internet access as well as an adequate variety of books to suit all ages. This library is well laid out, there are bright lights, several tables and a couple of helpful staff at the reception. There's not much more to it than that I suppose, although one thing which struck my attention was the amount of north west tourist leaflets on the front desk. At one point, it felt like I was in a tourist information centre! Old Swan Library is a pleasant place for a relaxing read or study but because of its size, it doesn't offer a huge range of resources but I guess it doesn't necessarily have to if you're not looking for anything in specific.

I recently took my class of Year 3s to the library where we were given a wonderful session on research and each child was presented with a library ticket. Reading is such a wonderful gift to be given in life and my pupils were enthused and delighted with their library tickets and by meeting the friendly and helpful librarians. A substantial number of children have returned to the library to complete research for a recent topic. This is a wonderful library with first class staff who are a real asset to our local community. However texts can be ordered in from other Sefton libraries and held for you at a small charge. There are a number of computers available for public use- free of charge, you just have to register with the library- this is a great asset, and there is also a small stock of DVDs and audiobooks. If you are planning to go and work undisturbed in library silence, do check children's hour is not in full swing or you'll be singing along to Old McDonald. I don't think there are any toilets here and there is no vending machine or cafe for refreshments so come prepared if you're planning a long stay.

However I don't think the range of books is as extenisive as it could be there is a small selection of every genre but, it's never quite enough and I often find the shelves disappointingly sparse. Although, the children's section is great and very populare, which is important in a community library. There is a cafe and toilets available and lots of staff on hand to help with any enquiries. You can also pick up leaflets and guides on the local area: its amenities and centres as well as information on forthcoming events across Sefton and Liverpool

Breck Road Library is a very nice library.As you walk in there is roughly about 20 computers that…read moreyou can use to go onto the internet.The library itself is very clean and tidy it even has a public toilet.The only problem i think is that it doent have that many books compared to other librarys.The staff are very helpful and a very nice to my children when they come in with me.They have many clubs that come and use the library including jobclub and childrens book club when you can bring your child in on a certain day and someone would read them a story.I would give this library 8/10 very good but not enough

This is a really pleasant library to spend some time in. Looks really grotty from the outside but…read moreinside it's light and airy with plenty of room to sit and spend time. A good selection of books in the children's department which is where we tend to aim for with a good cross section of fact and fiction. There is a dedicated teenage section which I think is always a good idea as I don't have my children picking up age inappropriate books. There are Friendly staff who will always help you look for anything if you need it and the computers always seem to be full of children doing their homework or people researching their family tree. All in all a nice library where you would be happy to choose books.

I don't know why libraries don't carry more books when they are so readily available from second hand shops, and people always have books they don't want any more and could donate. There's a good play area in the children's room, so if you want to sit and read and give your kids a place to play while you do so it's kind of handy. All the books are well arranged and sections are identifiable with very clear if not blatant or even comprehending blue labels such as "Novels" and "Information books." (What book, that is not fiction, is not an information book?!) What happened to people knowing the Dewey Decimal system? I had to learn that when I was about 8. There's a computer area as well with a good number of terminals so if you need to check email or do some research you can pop in here.
