After another area electrician dropped the ball on some electrical work that was supposed to be…read moredone prior to our move-in, our lovely realtor swooped in to suggest we get a quote from Thompson Electric instead as a trusted area company. Thompson provided us a quote that seemed reasonable given the extent of work - primarily replacement of the electrical panel - and I was able to schedule a time with them for the job to be done. They must be in demand because it was about 3 weeks out! On the scheduled day, the electrician promptly arrived early in the morning and set-up shop in our garage to complete the work. He kept me updated about when the electric would be shut off, when it was back on, checked all of the rooms to be sure he could notate which switches went to which areas of the house, and then explained the new panel configuration when the job was done. He was out there working for most of the day and even put up some painted board around the panel to hide that the drywall out there had to be cut for the work to be done. I was expecting we'd have to patch that up ourselves and now it looks quite nice!

Yep, a loose fitting came apart and water was running freely for a couple of days. My daughter came over and shut the pump off. Called Jennings and they sent a guy over to reconnect what they failed to secure (in my opinion). What a mess I found upon my return. The owner came and gave me an estimate - he pulled the permit before he got here, so he knew what city codes were going to need to be adhered to. He was very friendly and professional. He showed me what was wrong with my old panel (water coming in), and explained everything he saw as we looked at everything. He explained I would need a grounding update, new panel, new meter box, and new service cable. He told me that per code, I have to have a CO detector by bedrooms and my circuit breakers labeled, but that I could do both myself and not be charged for that. He then listed line by line my entire quote and how much each item would cost. This experience was much different from the first quote I got from a different company: other company did not pull a permit, did not explain anything to me, and I had to wait for the quote from the company after the guy left, which was then not itemized. When I questioned the pricing compared to the first company I had, Fair explained what he thought would be the difference, but not once did he bash the other company. He also offered financing through my electric company, as they are licensed through First Energy. The four man crew showed up right on time on the scheduled date, and got right to work. All were extremely professional, courteous, and friendly. They even waved and said hi to my toddlers. Even when they thought I wasn't paying attention, they were professional. When they were done they cleaned up everything, and showed me the work. I was very pleased with the equipment, the installation, and the crew. I will use this company again should I ever need work done, and they will be the only electric company I recommend.
