There was a young man with a makeshift name tag on, seems to me like he was being trained, but his employer left him alone at the register, and he was definitely taking entirely too long. I wonder if they didn't get the correct order now that I think about it ‍ I was also debating between trying one of their pastries or their little ice cream collection on the side and I'm so glad I went with the ice cream because I got the White Chocolate Mocha Chip Cheesecake and wow... this was SO good. The restaurant is spotless, the bathrooms are far from the eating area that's a plus, they have outdoor seating,, great during nice weather. This is a must visit, if you've moved in recently or are in the area stop by and check for yourself.

Not the end of the world since that was my second choice, so I just stuck with it when the waitress asked if she could fix it. My wife enjoyed the croissant and the chicken salad at home, so it's a win for me. Inside Marylou's is a quaint but roomy space for the inside diners, with plenty of tables and booths. Outside, there is a porch to eat on if you prefer to be outdoors. It's shaded and brings me back to the summers I spent with my grandparents, where we ate and spent most of our evenings on their porch talking, laughing, and watching the sunsets. Well don't be scared to go here anymore as the gas station is shining new for now. If you are drunk by 6pm or just want a quick taco in the morning give it a try. The 2 ingredient tacos, meat and cheese are pretty expensive at 2 bucks a pop or 9 bucks for a quesadilla. The flavor of grease will provide a friendly reminder of your experience the next morning in the bathroom. If you like to eat fire with your tacos get the red sauce. You may not need to wait till the morning for the reminder. There was no line and the nice little lady made our tacos faster than Taco Bell could without the flat top. Again this establishment is very clean so no worries there. I have to demolish the prices and really believe they could make this the best hidden taco joint in town with some creativity. I know someone there has a family recipe or two they could use. Food demolisher out.

I only went there to do one thing only......... and that was to secure a cup or two of the holy ELOTES! I swear I've been many places and tried many types of corn whether on a stick, wrapped in foil, or in a cup but this is the ONLY place that yields the most freshest ,creamiest, flavorful, and tastiest elotes (which I make spicy). I think it has alot to do with their cheese. It's different. Its' not like your typical run of the mill corn-lady cart that offers just paremesan or some other crack-head cheese. This is some real fresh and tasty cheese that is lathered with your corn. Along with butter, cream, mayo, paprika, chili powder, a sprinkle of limon powder and topped off with the cheese and a nice drizzle of the Valentina hot sauce... you're in elote heaven. I almost regret writing about this on YELP in fear that it will be over-crowded or over-exploited and as a result the quality will slowly diminishes but I think sharing .....IS caring. I should be selfish and keep this a secret, which btw is mostly known and shared among the other that live among Swiss, Bryan, Bennett and Henderson but I am better than that. I may have a few regrets after posting this review but I know in the end I'll secure a place in heaven for being self-less and caring. Let loose and indulge. Don't be afraid of the skirmy area. It's fine in the day time and evening. If it looks too dangerous then come again some other day when less packed but regardless try it out. It's magical. The elotes lady is magical. They have their own permanent fixture attached to the front of the gas station near the door. You can' t miss it. She's there typically most of the time unless weather is that bad. BTW. Cash only. Outside you'll sometimes find "Tape Man" under his tarp selling tapes and CDs of Mexican and Tejano music. You'll also sometimes find the lady selling elotes from her push-cart. Elotes, for the Spanish-challenged, are roasted corn treats either served on the cob or in a cup, usually piled on with ungodly amounts of sour cream, cheese, chili pepper, and lime juice. Inside you'll find a wide variety of convenience store goods such as chips, pan dulce (Mexican sweet bread), Texas lottery tickets, produce, Mexican candy, Blue Bell ice cream, sodas, etc. There is also a small restaurant that sells Mexican food such as fajitas, tortas, nachos, lengua (beef tongue), tripas (tripe), etc. Their tortillas are as close to homemade as you'll get without bothering your jefa or abuelita. During the summer you'll also find raspas (snow cones). You can also find random arcade games from last century and machines that dispense artifacts such as Homies stickers and plastic jewelry... or at least they claim to, usually they will just eat your quarters and serve deception (among other things.) In fact, during the 80's this place doubled as an arcade and had at least 10 games including classics such as Q-bert, Dig-Dug, Pac-Man, and Galaga.
