Before and after my skin treatments by Beatrice.

I love coming here and receiving hydrafacial from the instructor Beatrice! Any student willing to listen to her advice and directions will be an amazing advanced esthetician. The treatments I have done are dermaplaning, hydrafacial, chemical peel, extractions and blue or red light therapy depending on my skin needs. I have never felt more confident with my skin since I've started my treatments with her. After school hours Beatrice takes the time with every step of each treatment to make sure my skin looks beautiful when I leave the room. Her eye for detail and knowledge always impresses me. I walk out of there feeling like I've learned something. As an educator she is always learning new techniques and using them on me for the best results. Beatrice is an amazing esthetician that cares for all of her clients needs and the success of her students.

First off, everyone there was very courteous and helpful. It seems like a very much family atmosphere in which there is a great caring atmosphere. From the moment I stepped inside, they wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and satisfied. The student stylist that I had was very sweet. She was very thoughtful and carefully explained what was going to happen. She waited for her instructor to join us and once she did I then proceeded to explain what I was looking for. I brought a bunch of pics with me of what I wanted and also of what I did not want. They listened to me explain that I wanted a more of an ashey blonde with highlights look. I wanted to stay away from chestnut, honey or auburn tones and add to the fact that I am a naturally dark brunette. I presented them, with no doubt, a series of challenges but they both rose to the challenge. I ended up being at Beau Monde for over five hours but I did have over 100 foils in my hair! They were both very on top of it and and at times both of these ladies were working on me. The end result is something that I have always dreamed about. They did such an amazing job and I could not have gone to a better place! Thank you Beau Monde, I'll see you in a few months! Rachel and Shari, you two are the best!

If you have the time, know exactly what you want, not afraid to speak up and want to save money…read morethen this is a great place to cone for a haircut with quality Aveda products. Make sure you have time because cuts here take 2-3 hours. I've been to this location 3 times and the quality varies with the student. I've had 2 good experiences and a bad one on my most recent hair cut . I'd still go back but not in the evening and I'd let the instructor know sooner if something is off. Booking- 5 stars- I've been to other Aveda Institutes for haircuts and the Portland location is the easiest to make appointments. Same day and walk ins are usually available whereas in SF, they would be booked a month in advance. Payment- 4 stars- They have a punch card where you can get a free haircut after 3 haircuts. Haircut prices start at $10 for newer students but they don't break down the pricing by levels so you may be surprised and pay $20 instead and you can't choose which level student you want. Staff- 2 stars- The staff is supposed to supervise the students and ensure they're doing the correct cuts. But they are way understaffed on supervisors especially in the evenings and they don't seem to care much either. They should be providing better help to students who are cutting hair of real customers. My student was clearly clueless and not ready to cut a paying customer. The instructor should have watched her for a few minutes to ensure she was doing the mask and cut correctly before taking off. In the end they do check the cut and in my case the instructor fixed it but only cause she wanted to go home. Haircut- varies 1 to 4 stars- Depends on the level of the student. Tell them exactly what you want and don't be afraid to interject and correct them. My last haircut here, the student made so many mistakes from doing the scalp mask in the wrong order twice, starting with the wrong way to cut my hair (cutting the face framing pieces first instead of cutting the hair to one length), cutting the sane strands over and over. I'm very glad I corrected her. Also I like they they have evening hours and are open til 9 Tues-Thurs but I recommend not coming in the late evening, specifically past 7 as both the instructs and students are tired, there are less instructors available, and they rush you. I was very rushed on my last appointment and had to leave with wet hair. Products- 4 stars, Aveda products are quality products but expensive and I hate when they try to sell them to you during the haircut.

She was wonderful to work with, and I can't recommend her enough! We communicated before the appointment to pick a style and color that I liked, and Savannah sent me pictures of several swatches she had tried with various options for my nails. She was super sweet and worked hard to give me a great manicure! I would highly recommend booking an appointment with her. The beauty school looks really nice inside, with areas for manicures, pedicures, makeup application, hair treatments, and facial treatments. I deducted one star because some of the other students made discouraging remarks about their hesitance to give pedicures and disgust of feet when witnessing a volunteer getting a pedicure. Making those types of comments in front of a client (the volunteer) was extremely unprofessional, and I felt bad for the woman who was getting her toes done.

I was able to easily schedule an appointment online for an Experience facial. You can choose who you'd like to with based on level or let them choose for you. I didn't have a preference so I was instantly paired with Valeria. The moment I walked in the salon, I was greeted and assisted in checking in. I had asked if it was possible to add a brow wax, which they were able to add on for me. Valeria greeted me about 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment, shook my hand and introduced herself. I was able to fill out a paper based on my needs or concerns. She then took me back to the massage/facial room. It was quiet and peaceful with relaxation music. She gave me a robe to change into and a bin to place my personal items. She even offered a pillow for my back and legs to get comfortable while she began setting up. The facial experience was incredibly relaxing and soothing. I nearly fell asleep. She took her time to go through each step, even massaging my shoulders and head. The only thing I would change would be to change gloves so when massaging through the hair and head, you aren't walking out with super greasy strands of hair. I had just washed my hair the day before and it was loaded with moisturizer and very greasy post facial. Other than that, perfection! Post facial I was taken out into the main salon to have my brows waxed. The man working the front desk when I checked in came to ask me about my facial and chatted with me for a few minutes. He was incredibly nice and great to chat with. Valeria touched up my brows, while ensuring she was being gentle. It didn't hurt at all and she did a great job touching up my unruly hairs. I had a great experience at the Summit Salon Accademy and I look forward to trying out other salon experiences, including taking my daughter for her first mani/pedi. I highly recommend checking them out as the prices are amazing and the students and teachers are incredibly friendly and welcoming.

I usually always have the students do my nails or eyebrows or whatever else it is I need. One, because I like to save money where I can, and two, because it's a cool experience to start with a student when they are learning and to be with them as they get better. As always, expect for the students to take longer and plan of spending more time there, but remember, you get what you pay for! Also, be sure to speak up about what you like or don't like but be kind. It will help you get what you want but it will also help the students. Overall, I enjoy the experience and the staff and the prices. You can also always opt to have a professional do your services instead as well (obviously for a higher price).
