OFA is a yearly event that takes place at the lovely Fowler Park in Oconomowoc, WI. It features…read morenumerous artists (local and out of towners) selling their arts and crafts. They feature such mediums as : ceramics, glass, jewelry, painting, photography, woodwork, and sculpture. They offer a shuttle for off-site parking, which is a very convienent way to come and walk around, enjoy the fest, and not have to worry about walking 'all the way back to the car.' They also offer entertainment for the kids, like a youth stage, playgrounds, entertainers, and petting zoos. Oconomowoc Festival of the Arts has been around for 40+ years and offers art from more than 130 artists! It's worth your while to check out - spend a day in beautiful Oconomowoc and support a good cause while you're at it. BTW : This year's OFA will be held on August 17th and 18th, 2013 from 10am - 5pm.

You can park free on the street in front on Saturdays. The building itself is stunning and worth it. The vaults are incredible. The beer exhibit is very detailed and very informative. I am not sure what would normally be on the second floor but they said there was a wedding later that day - there are many weddings here on Saturdays. I was hoping for more.

The main exhibit might be up for a 2-3 years and then there's a new neighborhood exhibit series that is set to change up more frequently. I visited my first time during Milwaukee Museum week so admission was FREE. But I would pay full admission ($8) if you really want a deep dive into Milwaukee. When I dropped in, the beer exhibit was up so everything displayed related to Milwaukees's beer culture and history. It was FASCINATING. There's also an actual bank vault inside the building that was used in the filming of the movie, Public Enemies, with Johnny Deep. You can walk inside the vault. The space is also worth mentioning - lots of marble. It's just a fun place to escape to. I recommend you plan to spend at least two hours here if you want to really read all the information on display and see all the artifacts. Parking might be tricky - street parking is the way to go if you can find a spot.

Haunted ride through the woods on a tractor but you better look out for the trains! I got a deal on Living Social and it was a great deal. Two admissions, two pretzels w/ cheese and two drinks for $22. That was a deal. The staff tried very hard to scare you and make the experience fun. Had some great pyrotechnics too. FIRE! Good place, good scenery, good idea. Dress for the weather, you are outside for a good portion of it. A bit out of the way for some of us but it was worth checking out.

The artist in residence has fascinating ceramics and canvas mounted prints from his grandfather's slides and negatives (primitive PICs for you Millennials). If you're redecorating or looking for a memorable original special gift, I'd make a stop here.

The Inner-Urban trail takes you almost all of the way up there yet you do have to hop onto some of the city roads. The park is right next to Silver Creek Brewer so it is nice to bring a growler to fill up before bringing it to the park. Summer Sounds brings good acts, is never too packed, and is really laid back. Over the last couple of years they have added food tents that include the Nines, a hotdog place, BBQ place, popcorn, beer/wine text, and a few others. There is plenty of bike parking. The street parking does get a little packed on these nights so be prepared for a few block walk.

Visited for the first time recently…read moreand was impressed with the special exhibit of photographs by Bill Tennessen, who documented the African American experience in Milwaukee, some events that I swear I attended. Dutch Masters and religious iconography represented, and a few outstanding representations of such; but Milwaukee Art Museum is still showing the Dutch Masters (Bader) exhibition, and the Haggerty felt slightly underwhelming by recent comparison. I love the story of the Keith Haring visit - faculty, staff and students got to paint in the characters, and the visit was well documented by Milwaukee media. Incredible showpiece upon entry. The small little museum that could! We visited the Saint Joan of Arc Chapel on the same day, check it out, too.

From paintings, sculptures, blown glass, tile/metal work, leather, wood, jewelry and mosaics! This fest has it all! Sept. 2-3,2023 We had a lot of fun looking at all the beautiful works and meeting the artisans behind it all. They also had painting classes and art demo's. There was plenty of food stalls to pick and eat in the nearby park. They also had many musicians scattered around the streets playing really nice music!
