I had stuff left over from a garage sale. A few large items, like a table; and a lot of small items, like an old dehumidifier and power washer. I was quoted $125 with no mention of any "stipulations". The day they were supposed to show up, they were a no show. I called and they said they had gotten very busy and were now unable to make it out. We rescheduled.
The guys showed up promptly on the second attempt with a truck that had an abnormally large bed. He was nice enough, said his partner with the pick up truck was running behind. He loaded the small stuff, I helped him load the big stuff, he still had 60% capacity left in his truck and we had like 3 small to medium items left when his partner rolled up. His partner made some joke about being late, threw the remaining 3 items in the back of his pickup truck by himself and left after 5 mins.
In all, the transaction took about 20 mins. We had a dresser that wasn't loaded, he told me it was too big, he didn't have enough room and if I wanted it loaded it would be an extra $50!? I said no thank you. He then told me I owed him $175! I said I had been quoted on the phone $125. He said that there was more big stuff than he was lead to believe, which is why he needed a second truck and again said it was $175, but followed that up with "I should have charged you more, but you helped load, so I cut you a break"!?
