Chris is the best daycare provider ever!…read more Both my son (7) and daughter (3) have been going to Chris for full time care since they were 4 months and 6 months of age. She's the best ever. She's so experienced, and she's just like a grandma. My son is an angel, but my daughter can be a handful, and Chris takes on all her wards with the greatest of ease. Her prices are so reasonable, I am so so happy with her service and dedication. I recommend 1000%!

He had nothing but negative to say about his first day. He didn't want to come back and his teacher for 3 year olds approached me rudely about why my son couldn't trace a certain letter and that he needed to be helped by her. He has attended other schools and always positive but this one in particular was negative. My mom senses told me not to take him back and I'm glad I listened. No one at the school has even thought of contacting me to ask what happened. So if I could get this no stars.. I would.

WARNING TO PARENTS OF AUTISTIC AND SPECIAL-NEEDS CHILDREN: I WOULD NOT ENROLL MY CHILD AT KIDS…read moreACADEMY IN MANTECA. They may seem sweet, welcoming, and accommodating from the outside, but my experience once my autistic son actually needed disability-related support was completely different. My son is autistic and has a history of elopement. While he was at Kids Academy, staff opened the playground gate to allow other children who were arriving to enter. When that gate was opened, my son eloped through it. That is terrifying for the parent of an autistic child. What happened afterward made the situation even worse for me. Instead of feeling like the adults responsible for supervising him were taking accountability for how he was able to get through an opened gate, my experience was that the responsibility was essentially placed on my CHILD. He was then told he was no longer welcome back at the daycare. So let me understand this: an autistic child with an elopement risk gets through a gate while STAFF are opening it, and the solution is to kick the autistic child out? Absolutely not. Where was the conversation about what could have been done differently? Where was the accountability? Where was the safety plan? Where was the discussion about additional precautions around the gate now that they knew they were caring for a child prone to elopement? Instead, my child was the one who was no longer welcome. And Miss Lisa was one of the biggest reasons this experience left such a horrible impression on me. I found her rude, judgmental, impatient, and incredibly unpleasant when it came to dealing with my child's needs. Her attitude and facial expressions spoke volumes. As a mother, I could SEE when my child was being viewed as a problem rather than as a little boy with a disability who needed additional support. My question for Miss Lisa is simple: if you cannot regulate your own frustration, attitude, and emotions around an autistic child who is struggling, how are you supposed to help that child regulate theirs? YOU are the adult. He was the child. My son wasn't being "bad." He wasn't giving anyone a hard time for fun. He is autistic. Elopement is a real safety concern for many autistic children. The adults responsible for caring for these children need to understand that and have appropriate supervision and safety procedures in place. What also did not sit right with me was what I perceived as a completely different level of understanding and accommodation when special-needs children were connected to people who worked there. Apparently patience and accommodation can exist when it's convenient. I just didn't feel my child was afforded that same grace. And that is exactly why I'm writing this. Parents of autistic children often have to trust other adults with children who cannot always come home and clearly explain what happened, who said what, or how they were treated. Pay attention to how people treat your child when your child's disability becomes inconvenient for them. Anyone can smile at enrollment. Anyone can tell you they work with special-needs children. The real test is what happens when your child actually exhibits the behaviors associated with their disability. I saw what happened when mine did. He eloped after a staff member opened the gate. Nobody took accountability in a way that satisfied me. My autistic child was ultimately the one told he could not come back. That told me everything I needed to know. I would NEVER send my child back here, and I would not recommend Kids Academy to parents looking for genuinely autism-friendly or special-needs-inclusive childcare. Parents, please do your homework. Ask specifically about elopement. Ask how gates are secured during arrivals and departures. Ask what happens if your child becomes dysregulated. Ask how they accommodate disability-related behaviors. And most importantly, watch how they treat your child when your child requires more patience than everyone else. Because being "special-needs friendly" isn't about being nice when everything is easy. It's about how you treat the child when things are hard.

Little Star Day Care Center is a top quality childcare facility in Oakdale, CA. It is family owned…read moreand operated. Mr. Pat and Miss Linda do an amazing job taking care of children. They truly do treat everyone like family here. The center is located in a repurposed home in a location fairly central to the entire City of Oakdale. They are open 6am-6pm Monday-Friday. They are closed on most major holidays but they aren't over the top about the amount of holidays they observe per year. Unlike some of their competitors, I think they understand what being closed for an excessive amount of holidays does to families that count on them to look after their children while they work. Little Star Day Care offers a wide range of services for all ages. All day programs for the especially young kids not yet in school, before or after school programs for those school age kids, and kindergarten drop off and pick up for those parents struggling with the half day kindergarten program offered here in Oakdale. They also offer all day care during the summer and school breaks for those older kids that still aren't quite ready to be at home unsupervised. If you shop around much you will find that their prices are very fair too! That is something I'm sure that can not be said about most day care centers. They offer a great program that is well rounded and structured. The center has a number of different rooms that have been repurposed for the different programs they offer. They also have a good sized outdoor play area with all the appropriate play equipment. My kids always come home safe, happy, and excited for the next chance to return to play with their friends at Little Star Day Care Center! Mr. Pat and Miss Linda are always very welcoming and pleasant to be around. I am proud to say that there are still amazing people in this world and that at least the two of them are looking after my children for me. I strongly recommend Little Star Day Care Center for anyone looking for someone to take good quality care of their kids. My only wish would be that they would offer a slightly different schedule and hours of operation. I think it would be great if they stayed open until 7pm, even if only during the summer, to further accommodate parents that commute to work and need just a little more time to make it back to town. I would also love to see them open on Saturdays. No day care center in Oakdale or surrounding areas offer either of these services and I'm sure it would bring them quite a bit more business in addition to being another great service they are able to offer to their families. Thank you Little Star Day Care Center for all you do for so many families!
