The guys who came to do the moving were nice, lovely, attentive, polite. As soon as I pointed out some of the things were fragile, they told me: "We treat everything as fragile" and that's true! Not everything was packed properly by me but it all arrived perfectly intact. They took exactly the time I thought to load/unload, they showed to me how everything was secured in the van, then I went on the van with them to the new destination. They even wanted to place the boxes in separate areas in my new flat! No need really, it's a studio flat... All they asked for afterwards was to quickly wash their hands, I even offered them a drink (it was bloody hot and still they didn't sweat a bit!) but they kindly refused, off to the next job. Also, they asked me to go and check the van before they left, to make sure they haven't left/stolen anything. I would've paid even double for such a service!

He promised me faithfully that i wouldn't have to lift a finger when it came to moving day which was reassuring as i have long standing back issues and was recovering from pneumonia at the time. When the 2 men arrived, the more senior of the 2 came up to the 2nd floor where my flat was located.....which he huffed and puffed about and kept shaking his head (i had informed the company of this when i booked). Taking a look around he then informed me that i had too much stuff and that i would need to give him an extra £100 cash, which i shouldn't let the office know about.....this was a fee to cover the 'overloading'. I stupidly agreed as i just wanted it to be over. I then said that i would wait downstairs at my neighbours and he looked at me sternly and told me that i must help with all the boxes. He walked up those 4 flights of stairs maybe 5 times and myself and his very keen colleague did all the rest. My back was getting worse by the minute and when i asked to take a break because of my back issues, he told me absolutely not because he was in a hurry......all the while, he just stayed on the van talking on his phone. To add insult to injury, he made me unload the other end too. I was stupid for going along with it but i was a girl on my own and he was very intimidating. I was shell shocked by the end of it and he even sneared at me when i paid him and asked for more money.....as it had taken too long apparently. Like it was my fault that he didn't help or that the company had underestimated the job at hand!! I complained to the office the next day and was promised a call back which didn't come. I asked for my £100 back which i never saw and im now suffering on a daily basis with my back as that awful day really aggrivated an old injury. They are liars and crooks. Do not use them. I waited and waited so decided to call and find out why no one had arrived to survey for a quote. a lady answered obviously not using her little grey cells as Poirot would say. She was rude and unhelpful as to why I was let down , unlike other well known company's who were reliable and courteous. So in conclusion I judge a company by its customer service as specially as I'm trusting them to give a professional account of themselves. I had the misfortune of using this firm to move house. I recognise that there are some good reviews…read moreon here, though would regard my review as an accurate reflection of the experience I had using Own Removals, and subsequently would urge anyone using Own Removals to be vigilant of the below. When Own Removals company came round to pack the goods, the day before I moved house, this was done in an exceedingly unprofessional manner with items literally flung in a box and paperwork in boxes clearly rummaged through. We notice after the packing that my wife's: engagement ring, diamond and ruby necklace, and diamond earrings were missing. When I put this to Oliver his immediate suggestion was that the jewellery was packed away. However, taking into account that all items were in a specific part of her jewellery box, it was evident that one of the movers had stolen the items the day prior to moving when they came round to pack. When we arrived at the new property, and the jewellery was still not accounted for a police report was filed. As the weeks went on and we unpacked, the evidence of a rogue packing firm became clear. As you can see from the pictures, for reasons only known to the Own Removals, a £5000 vanity was ruined as the idiot decided to use masking tape to secure it, which subsequently meant that when the masking tape was removed the skin of the leather came off. When I challenged Oliver about this his excuse was that they normally use low level adhesive tape. It is clear that they have absolutely no idea what they are doing, as the correct protocol is to strap this item down or reverse the tape when putting it on. Regrettably I found this out later. Excluding the jewellery, we also noted that various items were also damaged, or missing, such as my child's mobile and picture frames. As a further insult, one of the packers clearly had such low levels of concern for our property that he even discarded his empty food wrappers into our packing boxes. There was also the added theft of all of my aftershaves, many of which were half full, and therefore would have had no financial resale benefits. I am suspicious that both packers were in on this, as they were quite adamant that they needed to leave at 15:00 that day, despite outstanding items to pack. But I guess the pawn shops do close early some days. After the move, I returned to my previous property and noticed that many of the items had not been collected, and were merely left in one room, this then required another four hours for me to ferry the items to my new property. When I put all of this to Oliver he did rescinded the charge for this move, which goes absolutely no way to appease the damage that Own Removals slapdash business practices have resulted in. So no, I would not recommend Own Removals.
