There were only six of us and the restaurant was filled with a wedding party, 50th birthday and small tables of 2, 4 and 6. It is glass all around and no verandah so it is very noisy. We were near a woman who has no volume control and that prevented our conversations until she was eating. It was a relief when she left as the reflection off the windows was a shocker. The group menu was a bit of a disappointment. There was no choice. The food was OK. Looking at the food photos from four years ago there was a similarity but just it missed the mark. The bread was not cut up and we did not have the knives to break into the crust. The penne was bland. The lamb needed a sauce, mint?, to cut into the fat. The dessert was more cream than cake. For the price paid, the food was disappointing. However, the amount of food was more than sufficient and they were prepared with doggy bags and containers for us to take away the leftovers. Maybe we should have gone for the a la carte? The service was excellent. Our waiter was very good. Parking was still no problem and on hot days if you are prepared to walk a little further you can park under some trees.

There is ample seating out the from with the gas heaters but we were soooo cold we opted for indoors. We were here well after three but they were still serving lunch and it looked pretty good. Our needs were coffee and something sweet. It didn't disappoint, very nice coffee and really good biscotti. With plenty of competition in the area the baristas and the pastry cooks need to be on their game. We will definitely detour here for lunch one day.

The cafè is very popular with locals, we arrived mid morning on a Sunday and the cafe was thriving with customers. We initially sat inside and waited for a table outside, with the staff accomodating when it became available. A delightful place to sit and enjoy our breakfast. It was a rainy day, but luckily kept dry by the overhead awnings. The owners very hospitable to everyone visiting their cafe and I understand why locals would keep coming back. We were informed it would be about 30-40 minutes wait due to the high volume of guests but we could order a drink while we waited. It's great to be informed. It also didn't take that long to get our food. The menu is extremely extensive and something for everyone, healthy options, a huge range of baked eggs and also sweet and decadent choices too. There is a wide range for lunch, but on this occasion we sampled the breakfast menu. In a group, we were lucky to be able to share a few different items from the menu. A lighter choice to start with - the 'buckinis' or granola clusters with yoghurt and fruit, beautifully arranged and quite colourful. This was followed by a breakfast burger with brioche bread and was very reasonably priced. We were impressed by the beetroot cured salmon done in house, sitting atop avocado served on pane di casa an Italian style of bread. Then came the stars of the show; the famous baked eggs. Unlike any baked eggs you've seen before, the Italian styled baked eggs are huge and they have five varieties. The hearty Uovo Bolognese e Piselli which is eggs poached in a beef bolognese sauce with peas, grana padano cheese and buffalo mozzarella served with pane di casa. Our favourite being the Uovo Cotto - it was eggs baked in a creamy white sauce with porchini mushroom, black truffle, potato mash and shaved grana padano cheese, topped with crispy bacon shreds and pane di casa - the taste was equivalent to a carbonara. Both were huge sizes so very reasonable for the price. On my next visit id like to try the one with pork fennel sausage. The Nutella pancakes were another great option recommended if you have a sweet tooth. You definitely get your nutella fix with these, not only were they topped with nutella, it was also in the pancake mixture too. This was served with vanilla gelato, strawberries and fresh mint. No fuss decor, Italian vibe to the styling and the counter also sells some goods to go. Great food on offer here and we certainly recommend a visit and in particular the baked eggs as a must.

I've heard rumours this place was once the shining star along the restaurant strip of Majors Bay Rd. But a change in ownership several years ago has ensured its dismal reputation. Never one to take much notice of bad reviews, I decided to give Il Tratto a go. Maybe I should have listened! Il Tratto's prices are far too high for the small portion sizes. A plate of non-so-fresh king prawns will set you back $40, while a couple of crumbs, which they call garlic bread, costs $4. The pizza's are okay, but a little on the doughy side, and toppings are scarce. If you like noisy venues and average, overpriced food, this is the place for you. But as for me, I will not be returning any time soon.

First approach the first words - do you have a reservation. "No" and since that moment it was all down hill. We were made to feel like we where an inconvience to them for not booking. We had a waiter that really gave me goose bumps, unfriendly who couldnt pull a smile! Our order was simple, white bait fritters, Tratto ra ro pizza, rocket salad and soft drinks. Nothing special as it was an early dinner. We were asked if all food was to come out at same time - 'yes". The pizza came out first , 10 minutes later the white bait fritters with the salad. Not too impressed as the fritters was someones course! Pizza - I have had better. Fritters must have been bought frozen and just thrown in the fryer no taste. Salad, I think the lid from the salt shaker must have fallen off as there was so much salt on it that it was impossible to eat. At no point did any of the wait staff come over to ask us how the meal was or was there anything we needed. It was keeping tabs on our plates as soon as they where empty to remove them and get us on our merry way. This place has really lost the "WoW" factor the old owners use to bring to enhance the reputation of the venue. It still seems a popular place - but for me I dont think I will be going back. There are far more superior places to have a simple pizza!
