My family attended an event this past weekend that included face painters employed by Sparkles Entertainment. All three of my children had their faces painted, and while the quality of the designs, which covered half of their faces, were beautiful, the reason for the poor review is what happened later that night. Both of my daughters, who had their faces painted by the same artist, experienced a terrible allergic reaction on the side of their face. My older daughter had what looked like a chemical burn on her cheek and red blotches. My younger daughter was literally branded. The next morning, the entire left side of her face was covered in a raised red rash that was the exact swirling design/shape of her face painting from the day before. My children have had their faces painted on numerous occasions and have never experienced an allergic reaction, so naturally I was concerned and so I took them to the doctor to confirm that's in fact what it was and to rule out an infection. I also contacted the owner of Sparkles Entertainment to make her aware of the situation and to inquire as to what type of paint they use in hopes of learning the ingredients so we can avoid them in the future. The owner, Fran, seemed shocked, and assured me that they use only the most gentle face paint. While she did apologize and promise to get back to me with the information, I have yet to hear back from her. I find it hard to believe that my daughters were the only two children who experienced a negative reaction to their paint products, but even if they were, I did not think it was too much to ask for the name of the paints so I could research ingredients. I find her lack of response very unprofessional and would never recommend this company to anyone. I will also be avoiding all face painting booths from here on out. read more
