We hired painters solely to help rid of smoke smell in recently purchased home. Owner/Armando said would use kilz primer and two coats of paint.
Concerns: No kilz was used in house, a cheaper paint was used than when quoted, only one coat of paint, broken cabinetry (the painters didn't even tell us), paint blotches throughout carpet in house, did not finish painting doors as originally discussed (asked for more money), and paint blotches on random personal items.
Armando went around house to touch up (blotches on wall, can easily see previous paint underneath), but still we have blotches. When confronted about not using kilz, he said he did - we reminded him we saw the walls prior painting, as they were not white. He would then say, "Oh, but no kilz in that room." I was ignorant and did not know kilz was white, and my husband thought he used a clear primer.
We well overpaid for the painting. If you hire them, watch closely to ensure all steps of agreed upon service.
Two stars because it can always be worse- we did find Armando to be quite personable, and his crew was pleasant and trustworthy, as they had access our home when we were not there. read more
