Despite there being two check-in areas, we weren't even acknowledged until I approached the desk and greeted the employee myself. I was then told she "doesn't like to tell guests to move." A simple acknowledgment that we were standing there waiting would have been basic customer service. Later that night, around 11:50 p.m., guests were outside on the pool deck directly outside our window talking, laughing, and being loud. I called the front desk and was told there was no closing time or quiet time for the deck, but they would ask them to quiet down. Twenty minutes later, nothing had changed. When I called again, I was told there was nothing they could do, but they had complimentary earbuds available. Offering earbuds instead of addressing excessive noise directly outside a guest's window around midnight is unacceptable. Between the poor service at check-in and the way the noise complaint was handled, I would not recommend this hotel and will be contacting Holiday Inn/IHG corporate about our experience.

There is visible mold around the bathtub and on the floors. The room stinks. It was not cleaned after the last occupant. Trash on the desk and used washcloth on the floor next to the vanity. Unmade bed. Also, when the a/c fan turns on, it sounds like a locomotive horn is sounding outside the window. There is much more, but I don't want to spend anymore time on this.

The railroad tracks are 20 feet outside the front of the property and they do blow their horns early in the morning but it adds to the ambiance. We sat on the front porch until dark talking about our visit to the Shaker Museum. Too bad there isn't any Shakers left in Kentucky - they didn't believe in having sex so without offspring they simply died off and that was the end of them and their religion.
