Another Great Hilton Property!!!…read more I was looking for a place to stay during a recent visit to the Decatur Alabama area earlier this summer. I checked out a few hotel chains and went with this location as the price for a one-night stay was a great value for the property and location. This Home2 Suites is located right on the River, a little off the beaten path compared to other hotels in Decatur but worth it for the value. This is a very well-run property with all the modern conveniences a business traveller could want. The Rooms are large and spacious, they are very clean, have great wifi and many options for plugging in your electronic devices. The property has seating outside and inside near the lobby if you get tired of your room. The Fitness center has ample equipment for a good workout, and you can walk near the river if you want as well. I had a good breakfast in the morning and the food was Home2-Suites standard fare. if you're ever in Decatur Alabama and looking for a great value hotel, this is the place.

02/20-23/2026 this not be a downgraded review from last year…read more I hope improvements are done this has my go to place when I visit Decatur Alabama. Pros: booking was easy with the Hilton App. Luckily we got a digital key. Parking is convenient and free. Staff very welcoming and nice. The lobby was nicely kept including the gym and business center. Cons: The free premade breakfast seems to be lack quality. The room 216 needs to have some updates to it. Kitchen sink drain needs cleaning and disposal replaced. I don't think the queen size beds are true in size. They seem smaller. I don't carry a tape measure with me. Company computer systems went down so no hard copy keys to rooms. Other guests had to be let in by staff.

I quite enjoy it :) Breakfast is the typical fare. Both hot and cold buffet items. 24 hour coffe, tea and hot chocolate. They have a nicely laid out outdoor area as well, for the warmer summer months. Most of the staff was friendly. Though the manager that greated me was not overly so and didn't recognize me as a Spire elite. Perhaps she was just caught up in what she had to do for the day or too busy.

Having never been to Alabama, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised by my stay here. Star #1: Upon arrival, Summer, the sweet front desk woman greeted me with a smile. Although she was on the phone with another customer, she happily greeted me, checked me in and sent me on my way! I saw her multiple times throughout my time at the hotel and she was always friendly and sweet. Star #2: Rooms are newly renovated with updated electronics, large in size, clean, offer a small kitchen space (micro, Keurig and fridge) and have the best damn beds to date. I booked my trip last minute in Feb, which yielded a room with two queen beds, but king rooms are also available. Another pro - the rooms cool down fast when blasting the AC, which I greatly appreciated after being in the humid Alabama air. Star #3: The hotel boasts a wide variety of amenities (pool, hot tub, outdoor patio, free WIFI, gym with both free weights and cardio equipment), it's the complimentary breakfast buffet that had me at hello! Each morning (starting at 5:30AM), the hotel staff prepares the most delicious offerings for breakfast! Every palette will be happy as everything under the sun is offered here - think fresh biscuits, eggs, waffles, bagels, yogurt, and more! Although, with COVID in full force, I'm sure things are different. Star #4: I was not privy to the rental car - as my coworker used it frequently for additional tasks - so I was happy to see a handful of surrounding businesses nearby for me to venture to! A liquor store, Logan's Roadhouse (similar to Texas Roadhouse) and a Dollar General (which literally has EVERYTHING) are directly across the street, making me a happy girl to get out of the hotel room, stock up on some wine and snacks before relaxing back at the hotel. Although this doesn't seem to be leadership's hotel of choice, but when visiting Decatur again, I will definitely stay here!

Conveniently Located Downtown Hotel…read more I recently stayed in the Fairfield Inn and Suites in downtown Decatur while in the area for business. The hotel rooms were reasonably priced and centrally located. If you are travelling for business, this hotel makes sense as it is relatively new and has many amenities that a business traveller would want. The gym is large and fully equipped for a good workout as it offers multiple options for cardio, including exercise bikes, treadmills, a rower and elipticals, combined with a universal, free weights and kettlebells. The hotel also had a medium-sized pool and a lounge area for swimmers and parents to watch their kids. The rooms are the newer Fairfield style with modern amenities. I had a standard king room with enough room to lay out my yoga mat and easily store my suitcases. The room was clean, the bathrooms were clean, the wifi was easy to connect to and I had plenty of outlets for charging my devices. The lobby is spacious, with enough room for a mix of couples, individuals, and groups to hang out. The breakfast has enough seating, and the free breakfast offers hot and cold choices that can accommodate most diets. Parking is tricky, and I suggest unloading your bags when you check in or register. There is some limited street parking and a parking structure in the back of the hotel. Please note that you have to take your bags and walk them to the hotel from every level of the garage. The garage has no elevator, just stairs. I had to roll my suitcases to the staircase, lift them over a curb and then carry them down a flight of stairs. The other options are wheeling them from where you park and down the ramos and then to the back entrance of the hotel. Alternatively, there is a small area with posts blocking the alley where you can unload from as well. Overall, I had a great stay, and the hotel was central to all the places I needed to go.

Booked this hotel for an overnight stay before going out on Lake Wheeler for the day…read more I was very pleased with the cleanliness and especially pleased with the staff (everyone was super nice, friendly and helpful) and oh my! ..the free breakfast. All fresh and delicious. Stocked with all the things I expected and then some! Things I wasn't expecting like sausage gravy. two kinds of scrambled eggs Potatoes with veggies. Cheesy grits, Almond milk... It was better than the Shoneys breakfast bar if you ask me. My stay was restful, peaceful and I left for the day with a full belly, a smile on my face and a prepackaged sack to go that contained bottled water fruit and granola bar. How awesome is that? *as a side note if you're looking for a place to have a drink, play some pool or darts (except they had no darts; only dart boards so we couldn't actually play darts lol) we enjoyed a place called 6 Pockets that wasn't very far. I couldn't find it on Yelp but it has a website

But this one was ridiculous. The little bar sink was dripping. We don't know where the water was coming from. That night we could hear the constant drip, drip, drip. It woke me up at 3 in the morning. The floor was so wet and filthy that when you walked from the bed to the bathroom you left dirty footprints on the floor. I wasn't going to wake my husband up at 3AM. He was the one driving us home that next morning. We told the manager who was vacuuming the floors about it and he wouldn't even turn off the vacuum in order to hear my husband talking when we checked out the woman behind the desk said sorry. You should have called us and we could have put you in a different room. I said if it was 10PM maybe but not at 3AM. I said I think you should refund me 1/2 the cost, since we paid $200 for the room. She looked at me like I was speaking Greek. Just said I'm Sorry and gave me a dirty look. Never again Best Western. Never again.

We get ooff at our floor which smells musty. As we our walking I notice every door is banged up like they have been busted open. We get to our room and there is what looks like a bloodstain in the carpet right outside our room door. The door looked like it had been kicked in a few times. I was surprised by how big the room was. It had a small kitchen and sitting room, a separate bedroom and bathroom. We were supposed to be in a no smoking room yet the room smelled like an old ashtray. My wife decided to take a shower before bed. She calls for me to come in the bathroom. I walk in and she is standing there with the shower knob in her hand. I call the front desk. The girl comes up and apologized. She gave us another room down the hall. We walk into the hall and man drunk is standing there stripping in the hall. Into our new room which wasn't much better, the security latch looked like it had been busted off several times. You could see the screw holes where they had it before. After jamming a chair under the handle we went to sleep. I can't believe Wyndham put their name on this hotel.

I think they are rebranding yet again - was it sold? - but for now, it's just Decatur Inn. And they are "renovating". But man, they probably shouldn't be hosting anyone in the meantime if our stay was any indication. The furniture was beaten up to the point where "abuse" is the best descriptor. Our room door looked like it had been pounded by a battering ram. The rooms were painfully porous, so we heard our neighbors more than we could hear ourselves. The bright side? Very courteous service. Maybe all the pieces are in place to turn this guy around. But for one lovely evening in April, this was a corner of human sadness. Keep plugging, Decatur people. Tomorrow's a new day.

This was a step up from the terrible RRI we have been staying at while traveling with pets…read more The lady who checked us in was sweet and nice. I asked where the pet area is and she directed me to the pool area, where there is very little space for my dogs to relieve themselves. After we were leaving the next morning, I noticed that there was a much bigger yard-like space where I could've taken my dog instead. This was closer to the main road. It wasn't a big deal but it was shocking. Regarding the hotel room: 1) the bathroom smell was nauseating. I couldn't tell if it smelled like chemicals or if it was from some type of mold or SOMETHING else going through the vents. The vents were full of dust and I could tell it just wasn't healthy to be breathing that air. 2) the AC unit was outdated and didn't cool properly. The smell of the air coming out of the AC unit smelled like old New England basement - moldy. We were sweating all night and morning as we packed our bags. 3) the room was generally cleanish for the quality of the stay. The bed sheet had a weird stain on it which we decided was probably nail polish from a previous stay but the sheets and bed looked clean otherwise, so we weren't too worried. 4) before checking in, we were told that due to this COVID pandemic, they were giving out breakfast alternatives that wasn't part of their traditional morning breakfast. We had been expecting this all morning, but the guy who was working there the following morning said they don't do breakfast. My husband was pretty upset because that was also a deciding factor of where we chose to stay. Overall, I wouldn't stay here again. I wouldn't recommend if you had littles, due to the low quality of air circulating. I had felt nauseous and lightheaded the following morning after our stay. It cleared up later in the day after we had been out of the hotel for more than a few hours.
