Idc who you voted for (btw, we're democrats) or what God you pray to (btw, we're not religious).... we know a good school when we see one! Anyone who writes a negative review can take their kid to the low rated public school they live by. I mean...who writes negative reviews about schools!?!!??!! Unless you're paying for it! Charter schools are elective, and if you're unhappy with it, send your kids to the local public school, move, pay money for private school, or teach your kids yourself! Home school is an option if you think you can do better! Teachers are are under-paid and extremely undervalued. They take care of our kids for almost 8 hours a day...for free (well, almost...taxes pay). They try to educate our kids along with teaching them how to be responsible members of society. Even bad schools have good teachers.... who try and care! We previously had an issue with a teacher here and after sitting down with the principal, it promptly stopped. Our kid is almost in high school and has been attending lfcs since kindergarten. Lfcs provides a FREE and "private school like" education. Ik when my kid leaves in the morning he is learning something, safe, and well cared for. Ummm.... and the school rating is 10 out of 10....I mean really????

Rasselbande had a large part to play in making that happen. The teachers truly cared and helped to shape our children in their most formative years. We live relatively far away but decided it was worth the drive in order to give our children the gift of language. I'm relieved that the driving is finally over but would not hesitate to do it all over again. Sending our kids to Rasselbande has been one of the best decisions we've made in regards to shaping their future.

Our son is currently in his 3rd year and loves school. I can't say enough about what a nurturing environment the director, Martina, and the teachers create. The director and all the teachers are native German speakers and it is an immersion school, but they also are fluent in English and it's easy for parents and non-German-speaking kids first starting out to communicate with them. German is my second language and I've been trying to teach our kids the language at home so I'm grateful that they can hear native speakers, and bonus, I also get to practice my German in this new community. The teachers constantly amaze us with their endless energy, enthusiasm, and how much they cared about their students. The teaching philosophy at the school is play-based, as is common in Germany/Europe and becoming popular here. Our son is the happiest when he comes home with grass stains or Matsch from playing all day in the mud kitchen. The teachers really treat all children with respect and interact with them at their developmental stage. We receive weekly emails with updates on what they're teaching the kids, what songs they are learning, and pictures. Parent involvement is welcomed, and this school truly creates a community, from playdates, carpooling, last-minute child care, camping, and continued friendships at Albert Einstein Academy. Our daughter often says she misses Die Rasselbande and the nice thing is that alumni are always invited to school events and kept in the loop. Martina runs an efficient school and facilitates Parent Teas after drop-off, Parent Nights to get to know the school, and educational evening sessions for parents. She is often seen in the classrooms helping out and getting to know all the students. Some of the things that I love the most are the fun cultural events like St. Martin's Day/Lantern Walk, Halloween/Trunk or Treat, St Nikolaus Day, Karneval, and Mayfest. Die Rasselbande is everything we could have hoped for from an engaging and educational preschool!

Then I found Silke! A master of her craft, always smiling, Silke's warm, friendly demeanor is contagious. Silke knows how to conduct her classes so you leave feeling like you have been wonderfully challenged, supported, entertained, encouraged and improved. Now with a strong understanding of the grammar and structure, I am able to form sentences and sing in German! Yay! I will continue to study with Silke because I can see how quickly she has helped me improve! I recommend Silke to anyone curious about learning German. She is the best!!!! Viel Spaß!

After searching for a local German class for conversation, I tried Silke's, but left in discomfort after just 6 of 10 classes. She made judgements and personal comments on students (appearance, background) and asked questions about their home and personal life, which she used later in criticism and nasty, be- littleling comments in the guise of teaching German! Fun in the class was generally what she made of you. Her negative commentary escalated when a student was absent from class or from 'treffin', a supposedly voluntary activity . Her teaching method involved joy at pitying students (schadenfreude) as a supposed motivator. Perhaps this is her attorney training, but it caused the class to be very cautious in responding to her and inhibited exchange. She has her pet students also (oddly, not based on ability), and this tended to polarize class interaction. The class is held in a small room off her foyer that holds 5-6 people and becomes overheated quickly. She shouts when excited during instructing and correcting students, and this felt more like a prosecutor's interrogation than a class. This class is a price-premium, classical European experience from a former century. The teaching method relies strongly on manipulation and intimidation. Perhaps, it requires more than a teacher's ego to instruct effectively? Caveat Emptor....

After all, as parents, the hardest decision to make is who to trust your baby with. Most tend to stay with what they know, because it's comfortable and proven to be safe even if it doesn't fit each child you have as perfectly as the last. Fortunately for my family, we found the best fit. The fit being Academy of Play. The teachers are all caring, emotionally attentive, and tuned in with each child as if they were their own. The documentation, updates throughout the day, regular photos, lesson plans, and development assessments are comforting and reassuring that my baby is well taken care of. The staff is not lazy when it comes to speaking with the children. Your child will fully be immersed in Spanish. There is no bias if the child does not come from a native Spanish speaking environment or if the child does not have a Hispanic/Spanish/Latin background. The classrooms are bright, clean, and filled with tons of art. There is always an instructor led activity and the school invites families to attend musicals, art shows, and more. The chances to be involved especially the parent/teacher meetings regardless of age does ease a lot of mom guilt I tend to have due to needing to work long hours some days. All children are welcomed and loved. I could not speak more highly of the program.
