We were treated very cold and rude by the all white staff in the admissions department. My daughter was told via email that when she arrived, that the counselor (Emily) would meet with her before the tour. When we arrived she came up to us and said that she did not have time to meet with us before the tour. After the tour, the receptionist told us that she was not available. However, she did meet with the two white parents and 2 white students that was on the tour with us. I complained to the director of admisions (Ryan) her boss and he dismissed her actions saying that she did not have to meet with us. I wish we never drove so far to a school that condones such behavior.

I often hear his name of the Serial Killers podcast I listen to on Spotify and just recently finished reading his book "Why We Love Serial Killers: The Curious Appeal of the World's Most Savage Murderers". When I saw him on the news giving an interview and they mentioned he would be 'in Chicago", I jumped at the chance to get a ticket to see him live. Welp, much to my dismay, he was not going to be in Chicago but Joliet. Well, I bit the bullet, got a ticket, and decided to go anyway. The Rialto is located in what I assume is the downtown area...the reason I say assume is that this is the first time I have been to Joliet. Since I arrived at 7:30 pm, it was dark and not much foot traffic beyond people parking to go to the theater. There was a parking lot about a two blocks from the theater at the cross street and it was free. The theatre was designed by Marshall & Fox, who also designed the Blackstone Theatre (now the Merle Reskin), the Blackstone Hotel and the Drake Hotel. Walking inside, you can definitely tell that these guys did the work as there was a familiarity to the Chicago buildings mentioned. The interior is very ornate and pretty. There were several vendors in the main lobby serving drinks (no bubbles, just still wines), cocktails and beer. You could take the drinks in with you to the theater. There was this huge Duchess chandelier in the rotunda and a lot of cream-colored marble walls in the lobby. The theater itself was so lovely. The seats looks wide enough where you could be comfortable. The reason I say this is that a lot of entertainment venues built back in the day had very narrow and uncomfortable seats. Because I had tickets in the front row of the orchestra pit, they had stand alone seats there, but they were padded and comfortable. I loved seeing the red velvet curtains and looking up to the ceiling, there was this ornate plateau of what appeared to be The Birth of Venus, based on the Italian artist Sandro Botticelli. The presentation itself was nice and insightful. I am fascinated with serial killers from the perspective of the psychology of why they do what they do, and Dr. Scott Bonn did not disappoint. Although a lot of the basics he spoke on I was already aware of, it was great to here about his person insights into his dealings with BKT (Dennis Rader)and Son of Sam. The irony was not lost on me that quite a few of these killers associate with Christianity in terms of being involved in churches. Bonn mentioned that Son of Sam (David Berkowitz )was now Son of Hope and a self-proclaimed minister who was being embraced by quite a few people. Couldn't wrap my mind around that at all. Bonn also spoke about Bryan Christopher Kohberger, who is accused of killing four University of Idaho students in November 2022. Bonn mentioned that he felt that Kohberger had the potential to become a serial killer had he not been caught. Bonn also mentioned that the number of serial killers has been on the declined over the years, with the numbers as high as over 800 in the 80s. The advances in DNA testing as well as technology/knowledge had stopped potential serial killers in their tracks before they got started. The staff were all very cordial and helpful. Overall experience was a good one as I liked the feel of the theater. There would have to be someone performing here that I absolutely would want to see before coming back here due to the distance but would absolutely do so.

The venue was easy to get to, the atmosphere was outstanding, and there were plenty of food trucks and drink options available. Even better, the drink prices were very reasonable, which is becoming harder and harder to find at large events. The crowd was friendly, and it was just a great way to spend a summer evening outdoors enjoying live music. A lot of thought clearly goes into planning this concert series. Whoever is responsible for organizing these events deserves a lot of credit. Everything felt well-run, welcoming, and focused on creating a great experience for attendees. The only challenge was parking. We happened to park in an area where vehicles couldn't leave until after the band boarded their bus, which made for a longer wait at the end of the night. Even so, that was a minor inconvenience compared to how much we enjoyed the event. We'll definitely be back for future concerts. If you're looking for a fun summer night with great music, food, drinks, and a fantastic community atmosphere, this concert series is hard to beat.

For this price, at the very least, I would expect to be able to see the stage. In my estimation, the majority of people attending this concert could not see the stage from their position, or their view was obstructed. Having come to learn that the concert was extremely oversold and clearly could not adequately accommodate the massive crowd that ensued, I was beyond disgruntled. The sound was awful and the poor excuse of a video screen, again, could not be viewed by many at the concert. In the past, even when I had the cheap seats for a concert, I was always able to see the stage, albeit from a distance. But to oversell this concert without the slightest concern about whether those attending and paying a traditional concert venue price for the tickets were able to see the stage and the performers, was unconscionable. And if that weren't enough, it was a near 90-degree day and concert attendees were not allowed to bring in food, nor bottled water. The lines for beverages and food were very long with no shade provided. The only people who could adequately see the stage were those sitting on the hill directly facing the stage. These people had to get there hours ahead of time to snag those spots, however the hill is fully exposed to the hot afternoon sun, with no shade whatsoever. Many people attending this concert were over 50. Sitting in the blazing hot sun all afternoon to obtain these seats was not an option. Needless to say, that is the last concert I will be attending from this venue.

No. But I love the decor, creepiness of it & the fact that your ticket includes the haunted prison, zombie shooting, then a third attraction at the end, more of a maze with strobe lights. There's a bar in the the main area where you can drink, as well as food truck(s) and a T-shirt shop. You can always add on the hidden bar feature that allows you to take 2 shots at different points in the haunted house & zombie shooting. (Shots are generally liquor with a mixer). You can purchase thru Costco for cheaper ticket deals!

They try to have groups go through so you can experience it and get the scares to yourself but we ended up catching up to a group so they got the scares. It's a haunted house so I'm not going to get very detailed, that would ruin the fun.

There were a few kinks that I hope get worked out, but this was their inaugural event, so I am certain they will be bigger and better the next time around! The first bump in the road was not being able to find a confirmation for our ticket order. It is quite possible the email was sent but didn't make it to our inbox. It is also equally possible that this was a user error and we lost the confirmation; however, we couldn't find it by searching the website and think that because a new account wasn't set up we weren't able to double check our status online. We ended up reaching out to one of the people running the show to make sure we were on the list. Luckily, we were! The second snag was when we got to the convention center and people were directed to two different lines. One line seemed to be for fancy tickets. The other line had people with print outs. We asked where Will-Call was and the staff member didn't understand the question. She asked what we meant by that and what the name was. We gave her the name the tickets should be under and she was totally confused. She wanted to know the name of the person working there with whom we were supposed to be (maybe she thought we were a vendor?), and then if we were intending to purchase unclaimed tickets. After going back and forth about what we meant she let us know we were in the right line and they could pull up our tickets on their computers when we reached the entrance. Those two little issues were really the only downside and were quickly remedied. We were checked in, given our souvenir glasses and event info, and in practically no time we were enjoying craft beer. The place was packed but you never felt like you couldn't get where you wanted to go. A few of the breweries' booths appeared to not be in the exact order as listed on the map we were given, but I had a lot of beer and a little lunch, so that could be user error again. Still, they seemed to be in the general direction of where they were supposed to be and the area covered was small enough that it wasn't a hassle to search them out. If possible in the future, it would be helpful to have the brewery names up higher behind the booths. Vice District Brewing Co ended up being our favorite vendor of the booths at which we stopped. Their consumer interaction game was strong. I understand it was busy, but they were really the only group that actually took the time to talk with us and we felt that they wanted repeat business based on not just their hops but their hospitality as well. Their playlist playing during the time we were there was fantastic and the live music we heard was really good, too. All in all, it was a very well put together event and I would definitely come back if they do it again!
