Cedar Knoll Cemetery

My father passed in late summer 2009, due to unforseen family medical issues we could not hold a…read moreceremony immediately. Finally in September of 2010 his cremains were laid to rest. My Dad was a WWII Navy Veteran and to the best of our knowledge and from what we were told, his private plaque for his marker had already been purchased long ago (1986) but was stored away in an attic at the Cedar Knoll Facility and they would search for it (a letter said it ha been there since 1991) (if not located they would obtain a new one). We were reassured that they would locate it and promptly place it at his site. Well, It has been 6 months since then and I took my daughters out to see their Pepere's site. Needless to say the marker/plaque was not there. Only a small green temporary marker is there. No one contacted us to inform us the marker had not been installed. I am shocked, being a veteran myself , I was looking forward to seeing his marker and honoring him this Memorial Day. They still have 2 months left to rectify this issue. It appears as though tactics were used to sell my parents this companion plot marker back in 1985. In 1991 they received a letter and new deed telling them to get rid of the old one to "avoid cunfusion" as the plot was renamed and renumbered but allegedly still the same.. Seems the old one listed two places but the new one refers to one. There is clearly not enough space to put the marker they ordered in the space there is now. Fortunately, my mother never got rid of the old one. I am still trying to rectify this situation. I am feeling pressured to obtain a VA marker (free) and place another under for my Mom so the cemetary doesn't have to pay for their loss, never mine ours.
