My kid loves to be there, learns a functional skill and fitness, learns to push through adversity and finds encouragement from the other members in a way that defines community. I was 21 when I started classes here in tae kwon do and I was unsure at first. I stuck with it and…read morefell in love with the arts because of it. I started doing martial arts informally at 17 but this was my first actual gym. The teacher, Mr. Dejardin, is nice, firm and an experienced teacher which is everything you can ask for in a sensei. There was not much of an adult program when I joined but throughout the years it grew and they have experienced fighters who are kind and disciplined. I am lucky to call them my friends and to have trained with them for years. Unfortunately I had to quit because I was living at MU those years and after graduation my career and distance forced me to quit. I trained in taekwon do and muay thai when I was attending and found both challenging and fun. My biggest regret was not training harder. The children's program is a great program, I've seen children rise through the ranks and become well rounded and better behaved because of this and I would recommend this school if that's what you are looking for. Mr Dejardin can get a little strict with the kids but it's nothing to be concerned about and he does it in a mature and respectful manner. Sometimes kids need a little firmness to help them mature. Overall this school helped me physically, mentally and spiritually throughout my college career and I am truly grateful for that
