The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful and the abundance of cute greedy animals desperate for you to feed them is nothing short of delightful. Their animals range from goats and sheep to chickens to cows right over to the more unusual llamas and highland cows. Even if you're not into getting close to the animals or feeding them the buckets of food available at the ticket office, just watching them mooch around is still fun and relaxing. The llama took somewhat of a disliking to me (was it something I said?) and stormed at me, looking like it could easily clear the fence and gain its freedom. I wasn't going to hang around to find out. One look at my pathetic retreating hide running off into the distance was enough to reduce its anger to mere disdain, and instead he decided to spit all over me. In some sort of random heroic act, the pig sharing its pen flung itself at the llama as if to take the blow for me, and rather than reflect on the llama soaking I'd been given, I instead watched this pig take one for the team. Right in the eye, no less. From hereonin, I shall name this pig SuperPig. If you do have kids you can pretend are the reason for visiting, there's plenty to keep them occupied. Other than the animals you can feed, there are talks and handling sessions with some of the smaller or baby pets throughout the day. There's also a nice adventure playground and a couple of trampolines to wear them out on too. There's a small gift shop and a place to buy some food, as well as a picnic area if you're sensible enough to bring your own food. I love this place and can't wait to go back when it reopens for the season next year.

Lots to see and many activities laid on for the children. Arm them with a bucket of food from the entrance first though or you will find yourself running back for some! On site cafe sells everything from fish & chips to ice cream or just a cuppa. Toilets well sign posted and clean. Lots of basins and hand gel dotted around for after you have touched the animals. Nice staff who are kid friendly. Congratulations to the farm for keeping the gift shop prices low, lots of souvenirs on sale for under £2.

In the 20+ acres you have all the reg farm animals to feed. Theres a couple of rides , bouncy castle and toy tractors to skoot around on. All this could be done in drizzly weather with wellys on but if its really bad theres a massive indoor play area. they have a small area for babys and toddlers thats well padded and keeps them entertained for ages. The older kids have lots to climb and the tallest slides i have ever seen. my heart was in my mouth watching the kids come down it , but they thought it was wicked. Around the outside of the main play area there are tall seats around so parents can sit there enjoying a tea or coffee and watch the children play. My only grumble came from trying to find some where to park, so if you are able WALK!! I sadly didn't have that option and had quite a stressful 10mins with a screaming child trying to park. Once inside I ordered a coffee and some lunch and found my friends. The menu is simple but nice. I had a panini which was fine and the coffee was really good. The children's menu is perfect and simple. Once we'd revitalised ourselves with refreshments we hit the play area. Most indoor play places I've been to have a soft play and a few toys but this is so much more. The play area is full of great toys, there is a whole kitchen and shop which kept my son entertained on his own for far longer than any other play. This is also closed in with seating around so you can sip coffee and chat with your eyes on your little one. Genius! It's 3.75 for the day and worth every penny if you want to meet friends and chat while your child is entertained.

I was told about the Chew Valley country farm by my cousin who had visited it on Easter bank…read moreholiday Friday, I couldn't believe I hadn't heard of it before. We decided to visit on bank holiday Monday. It was a beautiful hot and sunny day which was a good start to our visit. We have a 1 year old little girl who absolutely loves animals and is used to visiting our local community farm in Windmill Hill. We struggled across the stoney forecourt with our pushchair and saw the sign on the door of the cafe asking us to go in to pay, the entrance fee was about £5 per adult. The lady who greeted me was friendly and cheerful and we spoke about the wonderful change in weather in true British style!! We spent about an hour wandering around the various animals, all the animals seemed to be healthy and happy and their living quarters were extremely spacious and clean, our favourites were the sheep, geese and wallabies, we even got to see a baby wallaby in its mother pouch, the information about the animals was very informative and easy to read with just the right amount of information. When we had finished looking at the animals we went and played in the park for a while, the swing for babies was really good and my little girl really enjoyed it, it was surprisingly quiet for a bank holiday Monday and we didn't have to queue to use the swing (we nearly always have to in our local park) Before we left we decided to sit down and have a drink and an ice cream, the ice cream was local and was absolutely delicious, it cost £4.90 for 2 cans and 2 tubs of ice cream which i think is pretty reasonable, So in summary for a nice 1/2 day out the Chew valley farm is definitely a good choice, the £5 entry price is OK considering that you get to see such a wide variety of animals but it does mean that I won't be visiting every week, not sure if they offer any kind of membership but I would probably be interested in it if it was available.

Inside they have a huge soft play area with lots of different slides. This is usually really busy but they do have a toddler section for smaller children and babies which is good. Next to soft play is a large seating area with a cafe selling a wide variety of hot & cold food. There are several play areas outside, one being a sandpit with diggers, a huge bouncy cushion and another further in with different swings and slides. They also have a tractor track for children to wizz round on plastic tractors and a few other electrical toys that you have to pay for. Before you leave you must visit the farm shop which sells lots of lovely cheese, meats and other delicious treats. This also has a restaurant attached. Prices are £6.70 Adults £7.70 children Under 3's free. Puxton park is a great day out for all the family.

So it's useful that I have the mental age of a child at times and so Diggerland is like my dream day out when I'm feeling in said state. Bring on the diggers. What a great attraction this is for children and the tagged along parents. Size really does matter here so let's rejoice in that. So what can you expect...well blatantly diggers silly. It's hardly going to be a bun fight (though that'd be fun too). What's more you actually get to ride in these bad boys. Come on now what's not to love. The kids (and us "grown ups") can have a go on dumper trucks, mini diggers and get this; a giant digger. All supervised co course but it's motoring madness gone wild. You'll also learn about the world of the digger and you can grab a quick burger and drink at the Dig Inn. So poop, poop for a day of motorised action that won't get you arrested on one of those videos the internet has so many of these days (I needed the money).

This childrens farm is amazing - one of the best I have ever been to. Its got a really big car…read morepark, then you enter the farm over a bridge and are surrounded by play areas and walks. There are three main play areas - one for older children with big climbing frames to play on and in - one shaped like a horse is always a big hit! There is a sand pit in the middle great for younger children if you have older ones on the play equiptment. The second play area is for under 6's and is full of little houses which my little ones love, running in and out of the houses. There is also a play barn with straw - which is a bit annoying as the children come out covered in it but they have loads of fun! There is a large picnic area with a few lovely climb on statues, and chickens and ducks wandering around. There is also lots of walks and well signed routes around the farm, along the river and through fields. In the warm weather there is a river to paddle in. In the summer they have tractor rides - a pound each but always a hit! Animals - they dont have many but they have enough to entertain young children - a few pigs, cows, sheep, donkeys, and a little petting area with rabbits, peacocks and chickens. Really the main emphasis is on playing so teh animals are more of a sideline i feel. There is a restaurant and a cafe which is ok, fairly standard fair and not excellent but does the job. There is also a butchers and a bakers - lovely good quality meat. All in all a nice afternoon out - busy in school holidays but very quiet in term time. Its a £2.50 donation each - they leave it to you to put it in the tubs around the farm. Closed on a monday.
