Other than the mall in Billings, Montana this is one of the nicest malls that you could go to. It's always kept so clean and it's really a great place if you want to go for a walk or grab a cup of coffee and just sit and talk with friends they seem to have an amazing amount of stores not that many that are empty and it's just really a nice place to go. Southgate Mall has gone through a number of changes over the last 3 years. Many stores have closed and have been replaced with different stores. Two of the larger department stores, JCPenney and Herbergers have closed, as well as Lucky's Market. The mall itself is very spacious and while there is no actual designated food court, there are tables and chairs scattered throughout. A food court would be a great addition and hopefully that will be in the future plans since they are still in the works of remodeling. The mall has a wide range of stores including Bath and Body Works, Dillard's, Hollister, Gap, Eddie Bauer, H&M, Champs, Maurice's, Claire's, Torrid, Buckle, Game Stop, American Eagle, Hallmark, Cinnabon, and many more. For the most part, the stores and the mall itself is clean and organized. You can't come here expecting to walk into a large mall equivalent to what you would find in Seattle, Los Angeles, or other large cities. Southgate Mall is a modest, single story mall that has a little bit of everything. In comparison to other malls in Montana, I would say this one is at the top of the list. Restrooms are easily accessible and can be found in three separate areas of the mall. I have always found them to be well kept and clean. At the time of my review, the mall is still undergoing changes and probably will for quite some time. One thing that has always remained the same is the cleanliness. You can always see the janitorial staff at work in different areas. I dont know about others but for me, my entire shopping experience depends on the cleanliness of the businesses I am shopping at. Southgate Mall definitely has that down and it shows. As far as parking goes.....there is plenty of parking around the entire mall. Granted, parking spots may be more limited during the busier holiday months and you may have to park further away, but I never find that to be a problem. If you aren't from Montana and are wondering if you should take the time to check out Southgate Mall, I say "Go for it!" The no sales tax should also be an incentive. :-) read more

The service here is terrible. The associates get into your personal business. They do not care to understand different relationships. I love shopping here but this is now the second time I've left in tears due to service. My boyfriend has to go back to the store to justify my words. Very upsetting. Would love to shop here but the associates make me so uncomfortable and Judgmental making your life their business. Really wish this would change, hence why I'm leaving a review. read more

This is a cute, medium sized mall with all the standard stores. While it is one level, it packs in quite a few stores. From high end like Dillard's, to inexpensive stores like Claire's, this mall has a variety of places to shop. I always find incredible bargains after the holidays. There are a few stores that are independently owned or smaller chains, and I love finding great sales in stores I have never heard of. There is a neat area for kids with tons of seats, books, and a train for them to limb all over while weary parents take a break. It is clean, up to date, and even has a "H&M" store that has been added on. I am unsure if this is a friendly mall, or the people that live here are just...nicer, but I always have a pleasant time here. The main downfall for this mall is the food choices. Ranging from greasy to bleh, they need to upgrade. The food is scattered in random places, and while I am no fan of a food court, there is no organization. There is a decent cafe in the center but along with being pricy and serving tiny portions, this happens to be the one eatery where snobbery is in full effect. While the rest of the mall is, as I said, pleasant, the young ones that work at this cafe are uninterested, rude and gossip about the customers, loudly. Too bad...it could be decent. Good shops, decent mall and a nice way to spend a few hours indoors when the weather is not so great. read more

It's one of the most tedious mall I have ever been. There are just a few stores that is worthy to check it out. Most of the stores have horrible clothes selection. It seems like I went back in time. Food center is basically 0. Not enough choices at all. The only reason I still stopping by when I come to visit my husband's family is to go to Victoria's Secret. Otherwise I would not step in here. The Manager of this mall did not take any steps to resolve a public safety hazard that still exists. My corneas were burned by chemicals after visiting River City Hair Studio, and there are currently three formal complaints with the State of Montana open against that business. I am also going to request that they look into the 'attitude towards customer safety' at the entire Southgate Mall. The Manager Tim Winger at Southgate Mall reported to me via voicemail in response to my complaint that he had called the Manager of River City Hair Studio in an attempt to mediate. She lied to him and said that she 'invited me to the salon to discuss the incident,' when in actuality she had banned me from the salon and had a hysterical emotional outburst on my voicemail threatening to sue me because I had reported my injury to the State of Montana. I of course let Mr Winger know of these atrocities, and sadly, irresponsibly, Management of the Mall itself took no action to address the public safety concern that continues at River City Hair Studio. No one examined the evidence I offered including medical documentation or the police report. Sad that someone is going to have to suffer a PERMANENT injury, and file an enormous lawsuit to bring remedy. Unprofessional, unethical, negligent, and outright dishonest. I had chemicals spilled into my eyes without apology, I had my hair ruined without apology, and I was charged full price without any restitution whatsoever. Several inches of my hair is going to have to be cut off, I can't even get a comb through to the ends due to the damage of the triple process Julia Meeks put my hair through. Ms Meeks of River City Hair Studio, kept me for three and a half hours of negligent torture. During that time she put me under intense heat with the bleach on my hair and absolutely destroyed the health of my hair, I had moved myself away from the heat because it had begun to burn so badly. My hair was shampooed and chemically processed a total of three times. It is now DESTROYED. Far worse than ruining years worth of my hair; she also spilled chemicals directly into my eyes from having my head laid back in the sink applying chemicals instead of sitting in the barber chair appropriately. When I immediately complained my eyes burned and there were chemicals in them, she laughed and said, "Great, now I'm gonna get in trouble with OSHA...just kidding!" She actually said that, and LAUGHED at me. Never offering me anything to flush my eyes or expressing the slightest bit of concern for my well being. She then told me as I was leaving to let her know if I wanted to reschedule to 'fix' my hair. She still charged me full price. When I did contact her and texted her pics comparing what she did to what I had asked for; she was immediately hostile and refused any responsibility for any part of what she had done. That was the last contact we had, and she hid behind the Manager of the salon (who was not present during the incident) from that point forward. I also received a very belligerent voicemail from the Manager telling me I was banned from the salon and 'warning' me that she had contacted a lawyer and I had better never harass her stylist again. At no point did I perpetrate any harassment. No responsibility whatsoever has been taken for what was done to me. I have all text records of all conversations (one) which took place between myself and the offending stylist that perpetrated those travesties against me, there is nothing harassing about me reporting that I wanted remedy made, and I am more than happy to submit transcripts of the texts. I also have witnesses to the events, and Ms Meeks was working alone and unsupervised so she does not. My full time Nanny was present with my baby when these events took place. I of course have medical documentation, photos, and retained the voicemail from management that demonstrated the Manager was so incapable of controlling her emotions that further harassment was sure to follow, so I filed a police report. Management actually accused me of fabricating the entirety of these events, in spite of the wealth of evidence I possess to the contrary. I am an upstanding citizen with a clean record, highly educated, and exceedingly honest. Look at my hair, how disgusting is that? Would you want to pay $150 for that? And risk losing your vision due to the criminal negligence here? No. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a hair salon in Missoula...GO ELSEWHERE. Somewhere with some ethics and RESPECT for their customers money and SAFETY. When someone else is injured, I will be the first person in line to testify in court that I already tried telling Mall Management there was a serious public safety concern, and for reasons unknown to me, everyone stood idly by and did nothing to prevent more people from being injured, abused, harassed, disrespected, insulted, the way that I was. Violating the State safety standards, negates commercial leases. read more

I really like Southgate Mall because I sorta grew up in this mall. I worked at a clothing store here and shopped here frequently. Compared to other malls though, it's just okay. There are some new stores and restaurants which make it more appealing: H&M and Red Robin. And the usuals: Buckle, Gap, Herberger's, Sears, JC Penny, Dillards. It's fun to come to just site-see, not really shop though. read more

The Southgate Mall is a good place to go if you're going shopping for a variety of items, from shoes, to clothes, to accessories, to random items for your home or to grab a bite to eat/drink. Some stores: JC Penny, Herberger's, The Buckle, Chico's, American Eagle, Sear's, Victoria Secret, Hot Topic, Express, Abercrombie & Fitch and other clothing & shoe stores. Food/Drink: Cafe Dolce, Dairy Queen, Hoagieville, Subway and others (I can't think of all of them). Southgate isn't too bad, I've been there numerous times and it's been a one-stop-shop for me at times, but it all depends on what are looking for. Like any mall, it's busy on the weekends, esp. on the holidays, but it's a good place to go and worth checking out. read more

I have to agree with Barb J. It's a sad mall. Very 1980's. It seems to be very popular with parents and their children. I felt out of place most of the shoppers are in their teens or even younger. It should be also known as Southgate Daycare Mall. Lots of kids going crazy!!! There wasn't a single store that made me want to go inside. I think they should make this mall a little more Montana such as more stores geared towards the outdoors recreation. read more

This is such a sad little mall. It's in desperate need of updating and new stores. I came once to find a dress to wear to a wedding, stopped in every store that carried women's clothes and could find nothing appropriate; if I were 15 years older or younger, I might have had better luck. It's definitely geared toward teens and the middle-aged. Thank goodness for the boutiques downtown and online shopping! This is not a mall I'd come to when I feel like shopping. On a plus side, the walk-in clinic here is very convenient. And the parking lots never get crowded. read more

Of course that was a while ago and there may be some store vacancies before the internet got huge for shopping and to top it all off with a lousy economy. Besides all that the mall was thriving when I was there and had a great choice of stores and restaurants to pick from. The main mall in Missoula, MT. It has little bit of everything. Not sure if it has the big stores like Macy's or JC Penny, I know sears closed. I visited it last in September 2018 after new owners took over and they have done pretty nice job around it, they made it much easier to cross from a store to another in the entire plaza. read more

This review is more for their JC penny credit card than the actual establishment I shopped in. I got their credit card on recommendation of the sales lady for saving some money. I got my bill from the company and I sent in my payment via check (I didn't have the online account set up). Well apparently it never arrives and I get notice that my account is delinquent! They added about 30 bucks to my bill. So I set up the online bill pay and guess what? That isn't good enough. Sure I may have made a mistake or two but I have received a third letter a week after setting the bill pay up the first time and it was being processed. I have established another bill pay and hopefully it works this time. I have also contacted the better business bureau. There is something fishy about the JCPenny credit card. read more

It's an ok mall if you're from Montana. If you're coming from other places, like Washington or California, this mall will seem to you like it's in serious need of renovation. The only high-end store is The Buckle, aka Montana's Nordstrom. Too mnay outdated stores such as Hollister and Hot Topic, and a bunch of random toss-ins like shoe stores and a Hallmark. I guess it's a good place to kill a couple hours, but it just doesn't cut it for me. read more

I like this mall. I'm from a small town and moving to missoula I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. The mall itself is clean and nice. Missoula is one of my favorite places to visit. It's a wonderful town, with lots of recreation opportunities close by and, of course, the university. It has many amenities, but still has a small town feel. Missoula is one of the few places that still has a vibrant downtown, with fun shops and restaurants. The Mall has a small town feel to it, also. Some reviews here stated that the Mall is out-of-date and too small, especially compared to big city shopping. That's actually what I like about it. Doesn't take all day to get from one end to the other and you can't get lost in the maze of myriad hallways. There are enough stores, and altho I agree that many are geared toward teens, I've never had any trouble finding something I like. Besides, one of Missoula's best restaurants is at the Mall -- The Mustard Seed. read more
