This place drugs you with things you don't even need. They give antipsychotics to the elderly. They probably have dementia or Alzheimer's instead of sending them to the hospital to get an mri. Hopefully someone investigates them soon. My elderly family member was taken here. When they left they had to detox. Who seeds an 80 year old person to this place? Horrible care. read more

I have a condition called OCD. When I go to the smoking area where people go to smoke, it makes me feel really sad to see all the cigarette butts thrown on the ground and grass. The people who clean the place can't be there all the time to pick up after everyone who drops their cigarette butts. All I'm asking is if we could have more places to put our cigarettes and for the staff to remember to throw them away properly. Does that seem like too big of a request? Otherwise, the food here is great and the staff are super nice and supportive. read more

This place suck they overdosed my brother on trazadone than gave him a shot on the butt without his permission and that shot last a month. He is like a zombie can't walk good can't talk or smile. DO NOT COME HERE!!! I only saw the psychiatrist once the entire time I was here. The place is dirty, paint coming off of the walls and black stains everywhere. They do not feed you enough either! I have gastroparesis and they would not let me take the medications I needed for it, only the medicines they were handing out. If you have a relative there, someone you know or a friend take it out soon before it's too late. If you have visited the department for adults, then you'll agree that the staff in charge of patient care is very rude and discourteous and they show lack of professionalism and compassion. People who watch patients and relatives during visit hours seem jailers. They are natives of other countries and do not speak English. The facilities are horrible, dark and disorganized. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would , my girlfriend was here and treated horrible by staff , they gave her the wrong medication . The racist only Spanish speaking staff gave her a bunch of problems and had an attitude that she didn't speak Spanish(we are in America) she didn't really receive any type of help whatsoever while she was in here , they falsified records to keep her in there longer , I was told she would only be there for 72 hours and they kept her for 5 days . Exaggerating medical reports and twisting words and lying on medical documents to try and keep her there longer , she didn't receive medication or see a psychiatrist until the 3rd day she was there, then they said they needed to see how she responds to the medication . Why was she not put on medication the first day she arrived this place allowed other patients to make her feel extremely uncomfortable , do not send anyone you care about here they will come out traumatized and this place needs to be shut down immediately , a complete joke . read more

My son was transferred there from another hospital (Kendall Regional) because they did not have any beds. I'm very disappointed with the care my son received first of all the week that he was there not once did the psychiatrist see him. It was always the assistant. The assistant would see him for about 10 seconds! After a week he was discharged and sent home! The very next day, he started having another crisis! How could they have sent him home when he was not well! Avoid this place at all costs! My son is currently in another psychiatrist hospital and hopefully getting better treatment! Our love ones deserve good care and treatment and you will not find it here!! read more

Some of the staff was nice but some of them were also very rude. If you don't act perfectly they keep you there for way too long and men kept barging into my room without knocking and as a feminine person that made me extremely uncomfortable. The staff barely asks you how you're feeling and treats people with more intense illnesses very badly, they are not empathetic at all. Their answer to everything is medication which is a very ignorant and backwards belief. They also don't feed you enough and if you're hungry they don't give you food. Worst hospital ever. I despised coming here and visiting patients. The minute you walk in, you feel like you are entering a jail. You have to get a key for a locker, to put your stuff in. Then as you proceed, you are hit with an awful smell like the cleaning crew hasn't cleaned in days. Many of the staff are unprofessional and rude. They barely even speak english. I speak Spanish fluently, but I sure do feel awful for the patients that don't, and cannot communicate. This place is gross and just a mess. I don't know how they are still open. NEVER allow a loved one to be sent here!! This is an institution like you see in the movies. If I didn't see it myself, I would never believe it. No therapy, no doctors and no care. This hospital falsifies patient information to retain patients longer than they need to. Patients are never given access to their own charts or nursing notes to check if they are documented accurately. They delay discharging patients in order to continue to collect insurance payments. Families must advocate for this hospital to be closed. Patients wait days to see a doctor and there are no therapists working with patients. Caseworkers visit for minutes and nurses barely speak English. This hospital is a farce! Fraudulence and manipulation of patients and their families. I only gave if one star because I couldn't give it less, so sad that places like this exist. read more

This is one of the best hospitals I've ever been too. Its not like a normal hospital they have a outside and they let us smoke cigarettes which I need lol. The food was pretty good too. Most places are mean to me but they treated my like a human and I'm doing so much better now. read more

I guess it's safe since there are plenty of locked doors. But besides the receptionist and the security guard everyone else is useless. They just pump sedatives into the patients, the nurses have absolutely no bedside manners...or any manners. As a visitor And concerned person, was treated as a burden or an annoyance. God forbid I would want to know the status of my loved one! The employees are too occupied talking amongst themselves to offer anyone information or assistance. If as a visitor I was treated so horribly I can only imagine what it's like for the patients who are undergoing depression, mental breakdowns etc. The place is drab, old, smelly and quite depressing. Honestly I have no idea how they are allowed to operate. If you are in the unfortunate predicament to hospitalize your loved one, no matter what, don't stop at this place! read more

Our loved one went in on Monday. We called on Tuesday and asked about his status. Their answer: "The doctor has to tell you this. The doctor is not here. We do not know when the doctor is coming." This has gone on for days, Wednesday...Thursday...Friday...today is Saturday...we have called dozens of times, DOZENS!! We have visited every day. We ask, "What is our loved one's status? When is he being released? How is he doing?" The nurse responds, "It's up to the doctor, he is not here, I do not know when he is coming." We have tried the nurse supervisor, the social workers, the admissions department...no information. We are being considered rude by the nursing staff. We just want to know what is going on, we are polite on the phone and in person but we are losing our patience. Every day we are told the doctor will call us, nothing. When we visit, our loved one tells us he has not been told anything either. We also have another patient calling us and talking about irrelevant things. He called my brother at 11 PM and 7 AM. We do not know who he is or why the nursing staff is allowing him to call us. This is the absolute worst hospital experience we have ever had. We read a review that people are released and the family is not notified. Our loved one does not have his keys or his wallet. Avoid this place!!! Your loved one is basically held hostage and you have no information whatsoever for days on end. Update: He was released today after another round of phone calls. No doctor came to speak to us. We have no idea how he was treated. read more

This hospital is all about making money. A staff member even commented that particular doctors won't even see a patient before 4 days because that is the least amount of days they will allow them to stay, regardless of why they were admitted! The rules are manipulated to their advantage. Nurses just give medication and the therapists do activities which have nothing to do with recovery. Patients are left to sleep, watch tv and wander aimlessly. This is not where you send people for help. Know the law before sending a loved one here. read more

do not take your family member or anyone to southern winds hospital. you go in needing some guidance, wtf, i 0saw deteriation in every patient. i went in for exhaustion, so i was sane when i went in! i witness patients becoming crazier. i do not thi k the give them the appropriate meds while in there. patients were continuosly getting worse by the hour! if you use phone, they say hey get off the phone, you dont need to be on there long! the worst experience of my life. i came to my primary immediately after because i was traumatized in there! do not send a loved one there. you done see what goes on inside. i did! make the right choice, if you have a heart and care about your loved one. read more
