I was very excited to go into the rusty rooster and shop for vintage furniture. To my horror,…read morealmost all the wood furniture had been painted over to give it a vintage look - white washing pieces and putting fake wood grain streaks. It was quite terrible. If you are looking for authentic Art Deco and prior, don't bother.

So I used to really like this store, I am sure they will take this down immediately, this was my…read moreexperience with them this weekend... Saturday we went in there looking for a small piece of furniture and they had two pieces that would have worked. I asked the lady behind the counter if they were running any discounts during the open house, she was not in a good mood and told me that neither of the two pieces were on any type of discount. I still decided to buy the one that I liked (just under $200). The lady working acted irritated that she had to move the other products off of it and even made comments about how she might not have enough room to move the stuff. I moved the piece out myself and loaded it myself, when I went back in I said thank you to the now two ladies behind the counter and there was no response. When I got home and looked at the piece it was obviously NOT an antique, the shelving and backing is particle board. I still like it and it fit the spot perfect so I was not dissatisfied. Sunday we checked our bank account and noticed there were two transactions (just under $200) from the Rusty Rooster at two different times with charges in between them. They are not open Monday. Tuesday we finally got in touch with them through the store number, the clerk admitted that this has happened to more people than just us over the weekend. The owner had to be contacted but doesn't answer the phone, she has to be texted. Finally she calls with some authorization number from MY bank, that does nothing. I go to my bank they say they can dispute it but it can take up to 10 days to get the money ( it has already been 3 days). The bank calls the owner, she doesn't answer or call back, she only calls me after I tell her that this is a huge inconvenience and she needs to call me (it still takes her 15 minutes). She will not refund my money, she says she did nothing wrong that it was someone else, the credit company, or my bank but it wasn't her. I told her that if I had to put in a dispute I would report her company to the better business bureau and post a message detailing the events on facebook, she got irate, she was screaming at me on the phone (I'm in the bank, with my four-year old). On top of all of this, my wife used her debit card so she has to sign the bank dispute and she has class tonight and is on the other side of town so a dispute cannot be filed until tomorrow. This company touts themselves as a local christian company, why can't they refund my money? If they didn't receive a credit from their merchant then THEY should file a dispute NOT ME! She admits that this has happened more than once, she gave me an authorization number from my bank (proof that she charged me twice). This is not how ANY customer should be treated, especially one who is paying, and especially around the holidays. Tuesday night the owner, Julie, continued to text me saying that it was not her fault that I was wrong and she could prove it. She text me a blurry report with something circle (I could even make any of it out). I posted this to her business Facebook profile and it was removed almost immediately, I was blocked from the facebook site (a business site). So who knows how many people have had complaints if she is deleting them. Wed we filed the dispute with our bank and in a few hours the money was back in our account, the bank told us it would take days (possibly 10). So we received a call from our bank branch manager explaining that the dispute had to be cancelled because The Rusty Rooster credited our account back. The manager explained that there were two separate transactions; one was a point of sale debit charge (using our PIN) the other was ran later as Credit. So they realized they were wrong, credited our account. I have had no contact from them explaining anything. No apology. Nothing. This company has a deep disregard for their customers and their community. Even if you like things they are selling think about what you are supporting by giving them your hard earned money.

Finally made it here to check this place out after passing by many times! Found out they moved here…read moreand changed names after the 2016 flood from O'Neal Road and that they're made up of many different vendors/merchants. Only allowed myself a few purchases today, but so many cool finds in here. Not at all what I expected. Not sure if it was a house before or what, but it's kind of set up that way with many different rooms. Lots of china, jewelry, unique art, furniture, a craft room, media room with vinyl records, DVDs, and books. Truly a cool find in south Baton Rouge!

Upon entering, a salesperson was wrapping a Christmas present in the middle of the sales floor . . directly in front of the counter. She did not acknowledge me when I walked in. Did not utter one word. I immediately thought about walking out but came in to look for a specific item and proceeded to look around. About 15 minutes later while I browsing she walks past me and said, "oh, how are you?" As if she had seen me for the first time. I didn't reply, just gave her the löök. Seldom do I acquire assistance when shopping because I know what I want. However, I will not shop or spend my money were I am not welcomed or at the very least acknowledged upon entering. I'm leaving 3 stars because they have unique finds.
