Outright refused to file through my vision insurance because I am a diabetic. Insisted that everything had to go through my medical insurance because a medical diagnosis was involved. What diagnosis? I knew I was diabetic when I walked in. What should have been a $20 copay like i have paid for every visit to multiple eye doctors over the last 40 years ended up being $179. This is after I had them remove a charge for a test that would have added an additional $170. Was basically told that every other eye doctor i have gone to for the last 40 years was doing shady stuff and that they were doing things the "correct way". The Office manager told me and my wife that they are more expensive because they do a full exam. We have always used private practice vision places that also do a full exam and never had any predatory tactics like this. Felt absolutely insulted and scammed. However, verbally they give nonsensical explanation about how there may be a medical problem we don't know about. The form doesn't say anything about this. The form simply says you will pay $125 (or $175, hard to read) today. For years my eye exams have been fully covered and I know it still is. Unfortunately this seems to be a health care provider out to make extra $$$ . I'm disgusted. I took a pic of the form.
